So goo dot see Blaze. She is enjoying life. Some worry about them in captivity but i would rather see them there , than nowhere. Good sanctuarys provide good enrichment. :leafok:

At what point do they start getting adult feathers? I thought it was during their first molt, but Blaze looks like she still has all of her juvenile feathers.

I'm far from being a feather expert, but we've seen some second year birds retain quite a lot of vertical striping in their chest area after their first molt..

Not the best pic, but the 2015 female from the Chesapeake nest. 2013 hatch from PA

Blaze does appear to still have a lot of striping, but her juvie "brown" is gone!! (probably being wet doesn't help us either..

Sweet little Blaze, glad to see her enjoying something. I always hoped that she'd be able to fly free and have a mate, nest, and chicks of her own like all little falcons should, but this doesn't look so bad. Thanks.

I heard squeaking a few minutes ago, however, who ever it was left in a real hurry - has anyone seen either Durand or Spark here lately? I wonder if those large gravely rocks are a hindrance to them - I don't see any scrapes in the rocks. thank you!!

There's a nice deep scrape located front-left in the nest box. It's easier to see when the sun shines in the box and the edges of the depression casts a shadow. Since the larger gravel has been in place, Durand has not been shy about conducting her usual housekeeping. :leaves: Today, the ledge was empty when I peeked in.

\\Thank you for keeping me straight SGB - thank you for posting the picture. Since I am not versed on capturing pictures unless it is from a still picture - any ideas on when or if that option will be fixed? I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving day - I am sorry for the late greetings - I can't seem to catch up with myself - happy Tuesday everyone!! Maybe we will have a visitor today!!
