HONDO at Oshkosh
UWO’s peregrine falcon injured; appears to be on the mend
:nervous:

The good news: He’s seems to be on the mend.

The bad news: Hondo, the peregrine falcon whose family has annually roosted atop Gruenhagen Conference Center at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, was recently likely hit by a car. The accident happened near Highway 41 in Oshkosh in early July. Hondo was found and rescued by a good Samaritan.

I wanted to let you all know how Hondo from Oshkosh is, finally after about 4 different places I found him & the people there got right back to me here is what was said
My poor sweet Hondo :girlsad3:

Aves Wildlife Alliance: Hondo was hit by a car earlier this summer and is now recovering at the Aves hospital. He had both a leg injury and a broken collar bone (coracoid fx) that is still healing. He has come a long way with lots of care and physical therapy, but we still have a long way to go before he will be ready to rejoin his mate

Well as usual I got inpatient to see an update on sweet Hondo so I asked again and here it is these
people are great on getting back to me so fast.

Can you tell me anything about Hondo the falcon from Oshkosh nest box is he OK is he going to be able to be released any news would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Hello Jannice
Right now Hondo is in flight training. Because of the nature of his
original injuries his recovery time has been very slow, but he has
continually made positive progress. He is a medium sized enclosure where
he can begin to rebuild the muscle strength to make those incredible
Peregrine stoops. The next step will be critical as it will determine his ability to fly sharp corners. So we evaluate him each day and keep our
fingers crossed.

Thank you for the update on Hondo. I've been wondering about him, and I'm glad he is making progress. Hoping for the very best for him.
