I really hate to hear about the weather coming here tonight! Several years ago we went through 74-75 mph windstorm and I remember after the storm when you went out into the neighborhood the houses and property on the corners of the block sustained the most damage as the winds whipped around the corners toward clearer space. Three years ago I lived in an area that received 120 mph winds and my knees shook together for the 1st time in my life as I did not understand what was going on, ( at first I thought it was a tornado, but it lasted what seemed like 15-20' and I knew it couldn't be) but realized the potential. Every few minutes you could feel the wind pick up a notch more in speed as it blasted your house. After the storm I went out into the neighborhood along with all who lived in the area and saw trees that had been uprooted, limbs everywhere, green leaves plastered to whole walls of a building, outbuildings sitting askew, whole roofs, siding, etc in the middle of the street! And for the first time in my life I learned about "wet macrobursts" storms. The scary part with these windstorms is not only are the winds strong, but the action is sustained! And when you look out the window into a wet macroburst, all you see is a bright, white, light as objects are not visible when rain is moving horizontal at that speed!I am concerned too about this nest in it's location and Spark, Durand and their juvies! And to all people and wildlife, Please stay safe! Beth wrote:
Wish they would turn the cam back to the nest...

Swin, your description reminds me of the 'derecho' (sp?) we had a few years ago here (Maryland). It was horrible and came out of nowhere! We lost power for over a week! I love the summertime... even the heat, but these old nerves hate the summer storms.
