12:12pm Audrey and Tom are both on the nest... won't be long now!

Audrey brought a plastic bag to the nest.
Tom brought fish - Audrey flew off nest with bag stuck to talon (and the fish).

Chesapeake Conservancy: We've just heard from the Crazy Osprey Family (COF), and have the following update from the nest. COF made two attempts to have Audrey fly in hopes that the bag would blow away. The first attempt was unsuccessful, and Audrey remained in the nest. The second attempt was ongoing, just as Tom brought Audrey a piece of fish. She responded to the COF's presence and flew away with the piece of fish, and the bag which is attached to her talons. The Crazy Osprey Family sees Audrey a few docks down, eating her fish. We hope that she will pick away at the bag. Tom is currently in the nest.

It's soooo quiet - I usually hear Audrey's non-stop chirping.

Update on Audrey. Crazy Osprey Family was able to send us some photos. As you can see, the bag is wrapped around her leg, not her talons. She is still working on this large fish (good work, Tom!). We hope that she will be able to pick away at the bag.

Bless the COF - They've been watching Audrey eat that fish for over an hour!!!

"Promising news...Crazy Osprey Family just let us know that through their most powerful binoculars, they can see that the bag is not wrapped tightly around Audrey's leg. It's more in the fashion that you would place it over your wrist after shopping. Of course, that could change in this wind, and as she moves about. She is still eating that big fish! Fingers crossed that the bag blows off and goes on it's merry way (hopefully where the family can reach it and dispose of it properly!)"

Oh, oh! I sure hope Audrey can get that bag off before it twists, turns and tightens on her leg! I know these bags are a big problem across the country as they go airborne. I read a few years back they were banning someplace in maybe California and wondered if that would take hold across the country, but it didn't. Remember when they first came out and the "grocery sacker" would ask "paper or plastic" and you would answer "paper" adamantly as you protested the plastic bag's arrival! I never let a bag leave my house in the garbage unless it has been stretched, twisted and tied in as many knots as it takes till you can no longer tie a knot in it ... no way it goes airborne!

Well, if there is any good news you can attach to this, is that there's a good chance she can rip it to shreds..hopefully she can do this before it twists!!
