I've read on the sj forum that they have been out on the runway, but I can't catch them out there.

They had a really big breakfast earlier, and ate every bite.





Then the male decided to go out on the runway.
Haven't seen him go very far from the box though.

How unusual that they're sticking close to the box. As you know, usually getting banded is a license for chicks to start exploring! Thanks, ljames!

He seems to be exploring much more than she does, although she does get out.



Here he is at the other end, he was there yesterday too. And beside the drain of course.

This morning Red got the prey and he was mad as a hornet and streaked over to Clara to complain. She did try to take it from Red a couple of times. Finally he worked his way in to grab some.





Yesterday, the exact opposite happened, Blue got the food and she had a fit.



This is from this morning, look how handsome he is becoming.



Well she's blocking.

She looks a little like the shag carpet we had when I was a kid.



Blue/Zephyr
I think he's pulled his tape off. In fact I saw him pulling at it the other day.

I never seem to catch them looking this active or the light this good.

Prey was brought in and Zephyr got, but had it stolen by his sister. Finally Clara got control of it. At one point the whole family was involved.







Later he was on the ledge at the far end. He was on the drain for a while flapping and looking up at the wall like he was going up there. Maybe he did at some point, but I didn't see.



Yesterday I had a lot of beautiful close-ups but my computer crashed for some reason and I lost everything still in paint.

prey arrived, Zephyr got it, he is the quickest, but Haley is the strongest, as she eventually took it from him piece by piece. He was so busy trying to protect it, He didn't even eat any.

Finally Mom came and took it from Haley, and started feeding her. He eventually was fed too.







Later they hung out on the ledge at the end.

So glad to see a fun, positive year at this nest! Kids are growing too fast.

Thanks loza for the cute pictures and video. He does get a little upset when he expects food and doesn't get it. So precious.

Zephyr is on the low ledge at the far end right now. Earlier, He was flapping like mad and looking up at the wall. Thought he was going for it, but Clara arrived and he took off running to the scrape. She didn't have food though but he decided to stay there anyway.

Fledge watch started today and I'm surprised Zephyr hasn't already gone. There's no hurry little guy, stay where it's safe a little longer.




Picture not too good but I think they are keeping the camera pulled back in case he flies.

It seems Haley loves the scrape. Smart.

Zephyr is up on the wall with Clara. Of course, he runs down there and chases her off. Haley is on the drain trying to figure out a way to get up there. Now he is at the other end, head bobbing.

There, can you see that little bit of fuzz on top of his head. Proof that he doesn't need to be fledging yet.

Words cannot describe.

FC landed on the wall with prey, Clara soon followed. Meanwhile Zephyr is at the far end on the low ledge and Haley on the drain. Zephyr comes barreling down the runway, just about knocks Haley off the drain, then tries to fly up to the wall without success. I was afraid he would make it and poor Haley would not get fed. But Clara, in her wisdom jumps down to the runway to feed them both. The cam view didn't change for several minutes so I could see what was going on down there.



And I didn't get this shot until the action had already taken place. Sometimes FC waits and watches, not this time.
