She is back...and in there now!! She's banded!!

I'm gonna wait her out to see what happens..

Ya know, Hans-Martin...I know Perkeo didn't like the bars, but you may have to go back to your original plan and Perkeo will just have to learn to go into the box with Palatina. Could the goose get in when you had the bars the other way?

This is the very end of her visit. She has no problem fitting in that slot!! Sorry its so long, but had to "wait her out"...

That was my thinking. And when you think about it, the canoodle usually takes place outside of the nest box and as long as he can bring prey, it should work. Gotta get the goose out!

Palatina has arrived...she was in the box (I missed that part) and is currently on the perch...I wonder if she was watching the goose from afar...

Thank you for all your attention, the clips and photos! So I get a good impression what is going on...
We have many Nile geese in our city along our river Neckar. Today I learnt this banded goose lives not far away from the church near "Alte Brücke", behaves very trustingly - fed by hundreds of visitors- was breeding twice in 2014 with a dozen chicks each time -
Good news: It has been 11 days without her visits yesterday - falcons are now more present -
Bad news: Everybody tells me, Nile geese are very clever and able to squint into tight and narrow places. Falcons are said to tolerate other birds sitting (!) next to them, only attacking flying (!) birds...
So I will not reduce the width of the slots by setting the bars closer! I fear this would stop again PERKEO to enter the nest box... And the adult falcons must be able to rush in carrying prey and the fledlings - four perhaps - should be able to hop in and out ...
This morning I flattened GOOSEZILLA`s hole - PALATINA did not stand this night at this point! - and soon after PERKEO seemed to be happy about that!
So let`s hope... :cold:

The crater was such a horrible sight! So I took the nuisance to invest 45 minutes of my precious time: a 20 minutes-drive - looking for a parking place - begging for the key to enter the church`s steeple - climbing 256 steps plus two ladders of 3 meters each - then standing on a another ladder: opening the nest box: Woosh! Strong gale blows dust & sand into my face - Oh, my fingers are getting so cold! - swish-swish - and with clattering teeth back - etc.
It was soo cold yesterday! :cold:
