an unbanded female . very skittish was only on cam a second. long enough to grab her prize

Of course , who we think is Big Red, is very adamant that she get in thereLOL

my friend was able to take this picture out of video .
We sort o fthink she looks like E4 . would it not be something if she was E4's daughter form 2 years ago. We could not band one female as she was too close to edge.
of course, she could be from anywhere

WE would really like to see E4 because she was a great lady. It would have been nice to see her on cam at end of season last year. I saw her from the ground.

this is red . he is very persistent to get someone into his condo. I have many videos but they are all Red going in and out

watch Little window in video also. I always put full screen

then finally we see , briefly and unbanded female. Still early so we will see if this is female for this year. I cut off some of small window so you cannot see her eating at the end . he brought in a food offering

I edited so watch times . He can be in box for 20 minutes . He loves these digs, hopefully a female will also. It is not the greatest area with all the construction, but they will go , where they go . and we will do our best to keep them safe

we will be downtown tomorrow for a doctors appointment for Peter , so if he is up to it, we will swing by and sit in parking lot across from Bell for a bit. if construction is not too bad.

Red is trying so hard to whooo his female this afternoon. :)

I don't think it is the unbanded female from 2 years ago.. That one would not be nervous of the nest area. IMO

looking back at video, this may be E4 now. man, do not want fight here. E4 is up there in age. We will have to wait and see what happens.

I hope they do a few closeups when they are in box so we can see bands but I do nto know if they are even watching yet.

well I was coming in to say how good it is to be able to watch and see what is happening at beginning of season , and cam is off.

I was also thinking yesterday, if sound was on , we could hear what was going on off ledge and kn0w if all is clear or if we have conflict. That is how we knew we had conflict last year. We could hear it.

I am only one person, and cannot be everywhere, even though I try. On Sunday we will be in area so I will try and take another gander.

This is really too bad as it is critical right now with us having seen 2 females.

Here is one video from yesterday. it is 3 put together so look at times. one is REd adn how we think could be E4 at box, then they leave and REd comes in with prey and takes it to ledge , then he comes back without it

well 2 days wihtout a cam and who knows what is going on. So Perter and I went over there after brunch.

We saw one flying over us as we walked out of restaurant. Then we parked in lot by bell.
Eventually one came in, and left just before I snapped picture.I saw one soaring between a few buildings.
A bit later I am not sure exactly what I saw. I am not sure if one went after pigeon just by us and grazed off glass or another peregrine went after it. all too fast. Saw flying behind bell, and not sure as sun was in our eyes.

Then 2 were flying towards Bell and one on to ledge and then another. chupping. and one flew off, it seemed bigger, but glare in our eyes. one remained on ledge. While I went looking , my trusty partner in crime was to watch one on ledge but he blinked , and poof it was gone.
managed to get picture of one on ledge. Did not check battery so missed the 2 on ledge. will chekc pciutre later
We cannot walk around as Peter is not quite there yet.

WE were there about an hour an a half but I do have family so... had to leave.

we know we have 2 for sure. are they committed to site. Do not know. this is a hard site to watch. Too much construction, and too many high buildings to see around. I have no clue where they roost. used to know with hamish.
So if cams are not back up this week , we will head out next Sunday.

I received this from a friend yesterday

''And ACA is starting the year same as it ran things last year. Nature cams operational when it is convenient. No maintenance evenings, weekends, holidays or when they have to do any more than just push a reset button. Office hours and bored civil service level of commitment. ''=

So I think some of my crew are getting restless.

It is a shame. AS this is a hard site to monitor from ground

WE checked here yesterday as well. no signs anywhere. Jean is not back till first week in April so we do not have her eyes.

WE will try to go after 6pm today, and wait a bit and then check night spots. I really did not expect them, as they are usually back in a few days. And chase comes in later than RAdisson. of course, if it is new ones, then all changes.

we were there tonight for a few hours. NO one home but a pigeon on turn in spot. WE knew RAdisson was not home as the raven were having a field day around the college Plaza and nest box area. RAdisson detests ravens and runs them off. She ran one int building last year. We think it is because of year they tried to take over the box.

WE stayed till turn in and no one

WE will go down again in a few days. I am sure they will be here soon

Tim Hortons were glad to see us. :egglaugh": :egglaugh":

Went to the University again this morning. No luck. Stayed for only about 45 minutes, took a bit of a walk around the side of the Maz...no signs on pigeon parts just yet. Fingers crossed. May try again this evening.

[quote="bev."]As soon as Peter is able , I will look at all the stuff and have a meeting with some of you , who are willing to do a bit for start of season."

Bev, I'll gladly meet early to help with start-of-season things. I'm working during the day but evenings would work well, if they're good for others.

I'm at UofA right now. I've seen one falcon...riding thermals straight up above the Maz. Not sure yet if it's Chase, Rad or an interloper - going to hang out for awhile hopefully they get tired and come back down soon! :)

I have binoculars and a 600mm lens...should be able to get a shot of something!

Will update when I go home...or when I get a better look.

Radisson has a missing flight feather on one of her wings right?

Peter and I will be there sometime today.

we like early evenings as you see more . this is right time for them to be home and chase is later than RAdisson. in evening if ravens around, radisson will evict them. Then you know she is home LOL

thanks Trish. I have had kids all week

I am just bummed that we have no cams yet and who knows if we will . If we do not , I will have to get my rear in gear to spot for canoodling, eggs laid etc. observing from ground for these things is timing and lots of work.

Bell

if we have time we will swing by area tomorrow. Construction is horrific but we will see if we still have falcons there. Cannot understand why they would have cam running and then stop. But then , , we use cams for different reasons. We use them to monitor the birds, who they are, when they lay eggs , if things are O.k. , if eggs hatch, are young o.k. etc , etc.
