He stays all winter. Someone got some fantastic photos of him bathing in a local park the other day and sent them to CPF - he is a beautiful, beautiful peregrine:

Tracy's posts about OC were always the best, she managed to capture her personality perfectly. She's one of those you have to see it to believe it kind of gals.

She and Lucky have been having a bit of a territory dispute with a family of crows that have taken up residence across the street from the nest ledge tower. The mom crow is huge and she's as feisty as OC is - one day I came out and they were outside fighting with talons locked by the pub!

Anyway, mama crow and papa crow had a few kids this year and now the whole family has decided to draw a line in the sand - or down the middle of the road that separates them from the falcons. Unfortunately one of Lucky's stashes is on a condo building on the 'crows side' of the street and the other day I saw them raid it when our pair was out of territory enjoying the warm weather. I have also seen them work together to drive out vultures which is how I think the crows discovered his 'stash'.

I admit I don't know much about crows lifestyle other than they are very intelligent and they like to scavange. The kids are still at home though - so they stay together as a family for quite awhile. I googled it to see how long and apparently they can stay with their parents for up to 5 years during which time they help their parents raise the next batches of offspring. They help with hunting and feeding apparently.

I wonder what will happen next year now that there is an entire family of them across the street, I worry they'll harass the fledglings.
