I just hate that this little one is not in the box...I've had the cam up a lot today...and either there was very little food brought in or my timing was way off...hope my timing was off.

Maybe a snack? If so, it was fast..

The strange thing is,SGB that Willow stops feeding Webster as soon
as Whitehead shows up on the ledge.
Willow arrives at 9.08PM and starts feeding Webster.

First rescue this morning and they are NOT even flying. We think our intrepid Whitehead took a left turn off Market Tower and floated to the lawn of a nearby building. Across 2 BUSY streets so I hope he was airborne as he made his descent.

I had just gotten home from a 7 AM to 9:30 AM watch and no sooner than I had walked in the door. I got the call. Picked up Barbara and we headed down. Amazing the excitement one little bird can cause! I netted him - he was a "fast runner" as one of his protectors called him. Barbara scooped him up, untangled him, crated him for the ride back to Market Tower.

Big festival on the circle and no parking so Barbara took him up to the 31st floor for the first do-over of the 2018 season. And Willow as none too happy to have humans invade her falcon territory! Pictures to come.

Glad it turned out well!

They aren't Bev! Whitehead certainly lived up to his name with that head of downy white stuff.

Barbara took this photo right after she put him back. We saw both Webster and Whitehead cruising the ledge this morning. Also both parents. When I left Willow was behind one of the stanchions, hopefully feeding.

We have a fledge! Not sure who, but Sue H captured these photos after he flew from Market Tower all the way across Monument Circle to the Hilton Garden Hotel. That is about a football field away.
Mom flew to meet him and rewarded him with a nice meal! :flirty:
Willow then headed to the monument, halfway between the flyer and the ledge cruiser!

Earlier we saw the entire family one time. That is always reassuring that we are not counting someone twice!

Both Whitehead and Webster are off Market Tower and flying fairly well. Landings are still a little iffy!

A picture that Sue H took last night. She was able to read bands on her computer and this is Whitehead.
Image

This morning Susan N and I saw all four at one time so that was a relief after our storms last night. When we arrived, Webster was still on Market Tower cruising and Whitehead had flown from Hilton Garden to the Monument. When I was getting a cold drink, Susan witnessed Webster taking his first flight and not nailing the landing at all! He did recover somewhat and continued on his way to "we don't know where." Willow was watching so we decided if he needed help she would go. After 3 hours, I left to get back to my real life and all the chores waiting for me!

This evening Sue H and I arrived to find a juvie on the monument asking to be fed. We did not find the other right away, but had heard from Leanne who works downtown that one was seen on the Emmis building on the circle. We finally located him still atop the Emmis building. We think Webster was on Emmis and Whitehead on the banner of the monument. Webster still has quite a bit of fluff on his head.

Before we left, Webster on Emmis flew to another building on the circle, flying like a juvie and landing like a juvie. Whitehead on the monument cruised the banner. We estimate there is about an 8" ledge. Towards the end of our time downtown this evening, Willow arrived with prey as the adult male flew away, his job of securing dinner accomplished. Willow took the prey to the banner and Whitehead grabbed it before she had time to prep it. She finally defeathered it and fed her boy on the banner.

And that is how we left everyone.

Since it was raining off and on, I didn't stay too long this morning. I arrived about 6:20 and immediately found one juvie (#1) on the banner of the monument. Crying for food will get you discovered every time! The other juvie (#2) was on the Circle Tower Building (aka the wedding cake) They both stayed put until 7 AM when it was time for me to start the parking meter. While doing that I caught sight of #1 flying toward the wedding cake, where it made a clumsy landing all the while #2 was flapping and screaming.

Of course, they were not on the same side of the building so I went to the Penn St. garage to see if I could see anything. Didn't see a thing, but heard screaming from 2 directions. One from Circle Tower and the other to the south west of that. Maybe the IPL building that you can see from the ledge cam? Went back downstairs to find #2 still on Circle Tower, but now all the way to the top! Then out of the blue #1 flies back to the banner.

Since it was clouding over, I decided to pack up and head for home, knowing they were both in safe locations and that while not perfect, they are landing okay. No pics. Sue H wasn't with me.

Great News!

We have identified the adult male at Indy Market Tower. Sue H captured several pics of him on the monument and (drum roll please) he is Jeffery, 52/E~(b/bl), a 2016 hatch from Pleasant Prairie Power Plant in Wisconsin! Parents, unbanded female and PBR
Some of Sue's pics and Jeffery's picture from banding day, May 31, 2016. He was an only chick! :flirty:
