Well, we had a little falcon drama Monday evening. We had a report from one of our watchers who works on the 30th floor of Market Tower that she heard a thud which sounded like a bird strike. She and her co-workers searched building ledges, nearby rooftops in their view, and the alley below with no luck.
I drove downtown and met up with Leanne who works downtown in the Salesforce building (alas no view since she is only on the 5th floor). Before I arrived she talked to one of the MT security personnel who said Sunday night they found a large banded bird - flattened. He had no idea what happened to it and did not take the initiative to do anything, including just reading the bands. Could this be on of our falcons, Sesenta, a racing pigeon? We will never know about the last two.
The most Leanne I and I were able to see were the two juveniles and Willow. Just not seeing Jeffery doesn't mean much of anything. Nevertheless, I went down yesterday morning. I saw both Webster and Whitehead and an adult.
However, later Leanne is 99.9% sure she saw all 4. Since she was alone, she is not definitely calling it. I am going down tomorrow morning to see what I can see.
On a positive note, the juvies are flying great and mostly nailing their landings. A few times they circle around for another approach, but they are evaluating the safety of the spot and not doing those scary tumbles.
Both Monday evening and yesterday morning I saw the kids engage in playful activity. Knocking Willow off her perch and even better, twisting and turning in the air involving one another. Talon tag has begun!
