Happy New Year! Begin your 2018 posts here Female: Willow Unbanded, 2017 ~ arrived March 2017 to displace KathyQ Male: Jeffery (b/bl) 52/E 2018 ~ Present 2016 Hatch from Pleasant Prairie Power Plant in Wisconsin. Jeffery and the previous male, Sesenta were alternating seen in February and March 2018 until April 1 when Sesenta was last seen admiring his egg. 01.05 The last couple of days the male was not very cooperative in showing his bands and when he did it was still too dark to make an ID.

From the Canadian Peregrine Foundation FB page. Erin was sister to KathyQ from Indy who perished March 21, 2017 Thank you SusanT for alerting me to this sad news. "It is with great sadness that we must report the loss of our dear Erin at the 18 King Street East nest site after ruling the skies at here for the past 15 years. On December 30th, Toronto Police discovered Erin deceased on the sidewalk on Adelaide St. just east of Toronto St. late in the evening. Toronto Animal Services was called to the scene and the officer on duty retrieved and delivered her to Linda at which time her identity was positively confirmed. Erin is now currently resting at the CPF Raptor Centre in Woodbridge. Erin was hatched in Wisconsin in 1998 and was discovered nesting in Toronto in 2003 paired up with Windwhistler who hatched at the Etobicoke Sunlife Centre. Together they produced 37 offspring of which many have gone on, and still carry on, having fantastic breeding careers of their own. Tiago - hatched 2005 now at Toronto Sheraton - her son. Malik - hatched 2010 now at Canada Square - her son. Stormin' - hatched 2010 now at King St - her grandson and current mate. Legacy - hatched 2009 now at St Mary's - her grandson. Ossie - hatched 2011 now at Hamilton Sheraton - her grandson. Athena - hatched 2010 now at Stoney Creek - her granddaughter. Ariel - hatched 2013 now at Mount Sinai - her great granddaughter. Simcoe - hatched 2012 now at Oshawa Hospital - her great grandson. Louise - hatched 2016 positioning herself to potentially take a site in Wisconsin or neighboring state. - her granddaughter. This is just a short top-of-my-head list of Erin's family out there thriving today. Many have come and gone already and have left their mark on the world. Erin's young that have had incredibly successful careers before they were cut short are: Hurricane at William Osler Hospital Ely in Ohio Dougal in London Sir Adam in Burlington Kendal at Harlequin And the list goes on and on... Erin was one of the most influential peregrines to have ever graced the skies of Toronto as proven by her living legacy today. She was so beautiful. So many birds that have lived and thrived as a result of Erin's nesting successes that at last count number over 143 genetically connected individuals. Thank you Erin for all that you have given us for the past 15 years, you will be forever and dearly remembered by all of us." |

I left a comment on Toronto king page will bring it over. so sad for me ]Oh my, we knew this day would come but I am very sad. as I write this my eyes are full. Erin touched so many hearts . she was quite the lady and even though she had no offspring in last few years , she was still the leading lady, and was treated as such, by her partner and all that watched her. I for one, watch these peregrines, not just for the nesting season and young they produce, but I watch them ( the adults) because of their majesty. There is something about watching a peregrine on a ledge, or soaring the skies, going into a stoop, just being. We know not the cause of your demise, but I hope you did not suffer. Thank you Erin for your grace, your majesty , and your mark on this species. you will be missed. ( I always checked for you, and when you were seen, all was well.) with love and respect BEv[/size] |
