AES Harding St. Power Plant, Indianapolis

The new peregrine adults at the AES Harding Street Power Station now have names appropriate for birds at an electrical power station! They are named for Nikola Tesla, the scientist, inventor, physicist who is responsible for inventing the Alternating Current method of transporting electricity. Tesla was so convinced that alternating current was superior to Edison's direct current that he was willing to hand over all rights to George Westinghouse. He essentially died penniless.

Yay- they made a new back wall for the nestbox at Harding!

Glad they were able to get that closed off. It's been open since June 13th possibly. There was wind that day per gigi and I started noticing it open on the 14th. Hoping nobody flew in during the months it was open.

Harding unbanded peregrine landed on the ledge, walked over to perch on the stick and peer into the nest, and flew…..

There is a visitor out on the perch again. The peregrine looks kind of bleached out. Something about the cam, or the angle of the sun. This time the peregrine is staying to preen a little…

Just saw possible female with brood patch on porch preening, then she turned and flew.

Someone perched way out there preening, but at least they are showing up more here now!

Finally a falcon currently in the nest! Possibly an unbanded male, but he dug out a bowl while here and flew out at about 12:25.

I like how that one strip of light lights up the floor of the nest, I don't recall that happening last year. We should be able to see something at night if it continues. I saw it another night recently.

One just here in the nest, then hopped up to the ledge and away. Can see a bowl forming.

Tess is lingering on the ledge, looking into the nest box. She is leaning forward, looking closely- and turns around to perch on the stick....
