:loveheart: These little cutie pies are home alone, and all in a pile as they seem to be working On their down... are the new feathers coming in and making them itchy? Fort Wayne usually has similar weather to me in Ohio, and we are going to have a cold snap - high temps this week in the 50s! :egg18:

If these 3 get banded, I hope they check the one with feathers stuck in it's mouth. It seems okay, but they have been there for a couple days now....

They will get banded, but I don't have a date yet, Matrix. Will post when I find out.

Three peregrine falcon chicks set to get names, banding on Friday

The American Electric Power FalconCam (https://www.aep.com/environment/falconcam) shows three chicks in the nest box on top of the 27-story Indiana Michigan Power Center at Calhoun and Wayne streets in downtown Fort Wayne. The adult female, which I & M officials believe to be Moxie, laid a fourth egg, but it didn't hatch.
The chicks are scheduled to get names, a veterinary check and be fitted with an identification band at 10:30 a.m. Friday inside the Indiana Michigan Power Center. The event is not open to the public.

Oh yes good to hear! These chicks are adorable. There is one that follows every move Moxie makes and is a very comical chick! Moxie was just having a nice conversation with all her chicks.

And Feathers stuck in it's mouth are gone... I found the instance they got dislodged, in the playback. The chick was playing with a leg and foot and proceeded to eat the entire leg and foot. Moxie tried in vain to stop it, but it finally went "down the hatch".....along with the feathers.

They were banded along with a box cleaning and hanging the Soarin' Hawk Rehab sign. They added some rocks too. They are now huddled up ready for another nap after finishing a meal. Moxie is keeping a close eye to the sky in case there are more intruders. Oh, she just flew off!

From the The Journal Gazette

3 peregrine falcon chicks banded

Three new peregrine falcon chicks, two boys and a girl, were banded today in the Indiana Michigan Power Center auditorium.

The annual event, which is by invitation only, allows spectators to watch the falcons via live-streaming camera as the handlers fend off the parents when removing them from their nest on the Indiana Michigan Power building's roof.

Indiana Michigan Power and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources invite school children to watch the banding every year, says communications representative Tracy Warner.

“They actually get to see the falcons up-close,” says Indiana-Michigan Power communications representative Tracy Warner. “They get to see the parents swarming up there and the relationship and the bonding between the parents and the chicks, it’s just an all around good program we think.”

The three chicks were born early April and will stay in their box nest for the next couple weeks until they learn to fly.

Prior to the event, the children vote on names for the chicks. Zazu, Mist and Thunder are this year’s birds. Student Israel Mondragon eagerly watched the banding from the front row.

“This was the best day of my life,” says Mondragon. “I’ve never got to see a falcon.”
