This is the best picture I can get now.
Maltese is sitting tight, but I still see the remaining egg beneath her.

:1val:Saw a couple interesting areas on the egg, but pip or debris? I thought if I enlarged the screen and stared I'd know, but I was wrong. Maybe someone else will come in and can tell for sure. If not, we'll know by morning. The best view of the egg was before and during her 1st feed in the following. A little over an hour ago she literally did back to back feeds. Peace in with prey, she took, he left, she fed, she left with remains, Peace in to brood, she returned with prey, he left, she ate, she fed, she ate, she left with remains, he came in, as did she, so he left, she broods and incubates.

:1val: Feed in progress. Went back a few minutes and Peace came in and handed off prey from the porch to Maltese. Still dark here.

I fiddled with the picture a little and I think I still see one unhatched egg.

:1val: Yes the egg is not hatched. And she made no efforts last night to indicate there was a hatch in progress nor early this morning ...

:hmmmm Hate to appear stupid, but something strange is going on here. First scanning the DVR, I see the fully intact egg separate from Maltese who was brooding the chicks and I thought she'd given up on it and kicked it out, next I see it looking as if it were split in half and placed back together again (about 60 minutes ago), then it's gone. Going back in to let the cam roll to see if I can tell what is going on ...

Edit to add: I was able to allow the cam on the DVR to roll through what happened to the egg as it appears to be split right before your eyes and the only explanation I can come up with is a baby PS must have landed on it, but you can't see the guilty chick ... :teehee:

:1val: Found on the DVR Maltese feeding the chicks at 2:15 am nest time (she had left to retrieve the prey for them) and another feed before sunrise when Peace came in with something for her.

:1val: About an hour and fifty minutes or so ago, Maltese was feeding the chicks. The smallest one was never able to get in a position to get anything and that might be a good thing as Maltese gave the two bigger ones each a foot that would not go down. Maltese watched them trying to get it down and looked as if she wanted to help, but in the end she covered everybody up. Next view it seems they somehow got them down, maybe a little debris about their beaks ...

Maltese left for a few minutes. Perhaps looking for a prey delivery. She is back, no prey- hopefully Peace will deliver dinner soon.....

:1val: Maltese is starting to have trouble keeping them covered, she has to extend her wings some now.
