I think you are right SGB. Definitely not 5 and probably only 3.
John has not set up a date to band these chicks yet, and hopefully we will not have to wait that long to figure it out.

Definitely 4 here...But, #4 appears pretty small and I'm not seeing an egg...but, that doesn't mean much with this cam..

Kinda makes you wonder if Chick #4 is from egg #5..but that would mean they lost a chick but would expain why I didn't see it in my other pics..it was teeny..

Thanks SGB. I was at the nursing home this morning with Roy and missed the prime light here. Also got an email from Laura with same info about only 4 chicks.
Sure hope Lil Bit gets its fair share. :loveheart2:

Is the one laying down in the middle front ok? He has not moved at all for 6 minutes. The one sibling has come over, laid down by it , got up and chirped around, then got down low like he was calling to it.... But the chick never responded. the other two chicks are over in the corner....
Ha! He's up ! Just a sound sleeper! Funny though, how the one sibling seemed concerned about him.....

Oh good. I am leaving for bird rehab in a few and not able to check in. Pretty warm and muggy today so I imagine they will not be too animated.

I was just lucky enough to see a feed for these guys... An unbanded parent came in (dad?) with a good sized prey item. Three chicks were in a row infront of him, and a little guy was in back of them. The big ones were very competitive about getting something to eat- lots of pushing and squawking, grabbing pieces away from dad, and coming back for more. My attention swung over to little guy. He waited quietly- too quietly- for dad to notice him, but the bigger chicks were giving dad such a rough time, he barely ever had time to keep his head up. Little guy moved over a little, thinking dad would see him, but he didn't. By now I'm cheering for him - "Get in there little guy!" Little one hesitated so long, I thought there would be none left. Then he made his move. He came around the end of the row of ruffians, hesitated and then pretty much DOVE into the mix pushing and shoving until he was right beside dad. He reached up for prey several times, and that wasn't working, so Little guy ducked down and grabbed pieces away from dad as he ripped them off! The big chicks continued their pushing and squawking, but little guy held his own, and as the prey was finished and dad turned to go, there was little guy, with some prey still on his beak retreating to a corner to take a nap. I'll bet he was exhausted....

Tsusan, I believe the dad, Flash, is banded, and I don't think Lady is.
