Where did you see the standings, SWINWK? All I can find is week 1 fan favorite which is, of course, our Ozzie.

EDIT: I just found it. https://weather.com/photos/contest

Get 'em E8!!! While unfortunate that E8 was injured, it is an amazing opportunity to watch E8 progress and learn during recovery at CROW - Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc..
We are turning our posting/comments section back on. We hope everyone had a wonderful summer. October 1 will be here before we know it!
Also, looks like an Ozzie pic is in a photo contest! Vote for this stunning photo here: http://bit.ly/2amQ7f4 :flirty:

You can vote once every 24 hours for Ozzie! :loveshow:

:attention: Thanks for the update Ioza. I suspect it will be more of a challenge for E8 to fish in the wild, catching fish on the water's surface in mid-flight. I suppose it is instinctive to these eagles. I wonder if he'll be released near the nest site and if Harriet and E15 would tolerate his presence or chase him out. E8 is getting a 3rd chance. They say 3's a charm. I hope it is for E8.

WOW I am so impressed with CROW. E8 is remarkable. We have to remember in all of this, his will for survival.
this will bode well for survival out in wild.

I am not sure of the off season fishing in area down there, but up here, they go to where fish are running and a lot wait on sandbars on rivers edge, or slightly in. and food is plenty. I have been fortunate to witness this in my many travels out to Vancouver island.

they also are very able to adapt and catch mice, vole, rabbits etc. With HOpe in my heart. :7val: E8

That is great news! I hope they film and share.

On another note, I just voted for Ozzie and he is now in third place and 3000 votes behind the leader.

I will still vote daily. https://weather.com/photos/contest

Well, its official, E8 has been released!! They showed it live on FB (I have no clue how to find such things), but here it is!! Scroll to the bottom for the vid. Its small, but you can go full screen and its pretty decent quality..its raw footage and kinda shaky..maybe there will be a more official one later..

And a soft release too! The public generally clamors for a release holding the bird, but releasing directly from the cage is so much less stressful for an already stressed bird. Kudos to CROW! :loveshow:

I went to Breaking News first & didn't see anything so I posted some info on E8's release there, along with a summary of the problems E8 has faced in his short life (for the few people who might not have been following him. :loveheart2:

I finally was able to watch the video. Love how Heather refers to E8 and other youngsters as "young bachelors"! :sum9:

An update on Ozzie voting. His photo is running a very distant 3rd place with 3688 votes. First place has 6869 and 2nd has 6111 votes. Although it seem unlikely that Ozzie will garner enough votes, I am still voting daily

:sum9: Woo hoo! Thanks Sky! This is such wonderful news! A third chance for this eaglet. So glad it was done on his home turf. Perhaps there's still some time for him to learn a bit from Mom & Dad or hook up with other juveniles. Wonder if his sibling is still in the area.

Southwest Florida Eagle Cam

Many thanks to the ground photographers for their reports of Harriet & M both being seen in the nest area this weekend! M was even seen bringing some material into the nest tree!
No sighting of E8 after the release on Thursday but we are confident he/she is flying high & free. (photo by Desiree Deliz)

I still vote daily, but it would take a miracle at this point for Ozzie's photo to win. He will always be first and forever in our hearts! :loveheart:
