E9 made its first flight

Essec09: E9 had an "Accidental" Fledge this morning at approximately 7:22am.
E9 slipped while wingersizing on the porch and when trying to get back to the nest
flew to the ground in the west pasture.
Wskrsnwings is at the location and said E9 has been taking short flights along the ground.
There will be ground video posted later by wskrsnwings.
Congratulations to E9 and the SWFEC Family on E9's first venture from the nest tree.

Thanks Loza for the update and great videos! I just read the news on their website. Sounds like E9 is OK, but looked a bit bewildered on the ground in the videos...."How did I get here?" Hopefully, he/she will be able to perch somewhere off the ground.

darn. he needs to get to a tree. I remember one a few years back, that was on ground by church, and made it to a stump and then a tree.

ground crew will monitor closely. good to see both adutls with him.

Awwww...poor baby. He/she looks so out of place. I think those white birds at the end of that last video were trying to give E9 a flying lesson...E9 watched them and then tried to take flight. There's been several low flights along the ground. Thanks for the great coverage Loza!

he is in a tree now in west pasture, but going wrong direction followed dad they think

just my opinion but the people along that fence need to go home. just let wskerwings stay. They will spook E9.

They mean well, but nature spooks easily

SWFL Eagles ~ E9 ACCIDENTALLY FLEDGES!! - FLIES TO WEST PASTURE 3.14.17

E9 accidentally fledged at 7.22am this morning!!
E9 had hopped to the porch to wingersize as usual and slipped coming back to the nest.
You can see E9 land below the nest and a few seconds later, flies off to the west pasture.
Congratulations E9! E9 is 73 days old today.

Essec09: Update from wskrsnwings: 12:06 Harriet flies over and behind west pasture tree line and then I hear her vocals. This is the vicinity that E9 flew too, and the last we saw him was in the tree light green tree in that area. He may have flown through to the other side by now.

Essec09: Update from wskrsnwings: 12:11-12:15 Harriet is seen soaring in the back of west pasture to the front circling the road and crossing it. Then back over to stall west pasture tree, vocalizing.

I personally am glad that he flew over beyond west pasture. the adults know where he is and if he can get in a tree, he will be fine. He was too close to road where he was, and too many people around. hopefully they can control some of them. I do not mean wskerwings

He is in better shape than our one last year that got knocked by an owl. Harriet and M will so what they have to.

look it took a week for us to see Hope return to fly past nest at North Florida nest.

The dirt road where E9 was being fed by the parents yesterday is a private driveway that separates 2 horse pastures. This morning, the Prichett family requested that everyone clear out of the driveway and use a nearby church parking lot to assemble, which has been used by birders and photographers in the past. They want to give the eaglet plenty of space without interference to test his wings and return to the nest area. This morning Harriet was perched in a tree in the west pasture where E9 was last seen yesterday. E15 flew south, possibly heading out to hunt.
