Ditto that...I was driving home last night when I heard that the eye had gone directly over Ft. Myers where this nest is located. A direct hit with the strongest part of the storm. Ft. Myers had 10.2 inches of rain. Yikes!

Here's recent twitter posts about the southwest eagle cam. The tree survived. They have not yet seen Harriet and M15, but they are hopeful. Here's the twitter posts from 18 minutes ago:

Happy to report H & M's nest tree survived Irma and is still standing. Many limbs and foliage lost but it could have been much worse. No sign of the love birds yet but they are smart & know more than us when it comes to survival in the wild. We are hopeful for their return. Thanks for your continued support and prayers. We have a lot of recovery work ahead but will continue to prep for streaming as we can.

YIKES! I hope that doesn't deter them from the actual nest. Thanks for the update SWINWK@

SWFL Eagles_The Nest & Nest Tree Survive Hurricane Irma~A Look At The Area 09-11-17

Hello everyone. I am home. I stopped at the nest on the way home. I did not see Harriet and M15 but I viewed the nest tree, pastures, perch spots and yonder pond. The nest is intact and looks great. Some of the branches of the nest tree were broken off as Hurricane Irma passed through the area... part of the porch and the outer attic. The strangler fig tree, that always blocked our views of eagle and eaglet flights, has been uprooted and toppled as are some of the west pasture trees. Yonder pond and the pasture pond are overflowing. "Mom's tree" at yonder pond is broken off at the top. As soon as I get power back, I will go to the nest again to see if I can 'catch' H and M. Here are photos and a video. I am so happy the nest is still there!! Thank you for watching over all of us Ozzie and Tom

:loveshow: Oh my gosh...I just love her (wskrsnwings). What a trooper to take the time to check the nest and do a video before seeing the condition of her own home. I hope she fared OK. I love her videos and commentary. What a beautiful person for thinking about all of those worrying about the eagles. The nest tree looks better than I expected. The eagles picked a good tree. Thank you for updating us.

The comments below the video indicate that Harriet and M15 have been seen in the nest tree....so they are safe. :15heartbeat:

So true... and within the past week or so, Vicki/wskrsnwings lost her "best friend and constant companion." She is such a special human being.

Looks like Harriet and M15 have decided to build at the main nest site with the cams. Woo hoo! There was some heavy duty nest construction going on by both eagles yesterday, along with some love nips. Plenty of sticks available from the storm. Harriet seems to prefer breaking off dead branches on the fly while M15 tends to search the ground. He is quite particular about his choices...lol. Video courtesy of wskrsnwings. :15heartbeat:
