It is so interesting how the male birds come to see their baby.
Males are very invested in their young.

HAYS NEST HAS FALLEN :girlsad3:
Bald Eagles in Western Pennsylvania - Audubon Society of Western PA
1 hr ·
Hays Eagles nest impacted by Pittsburgh wind storm
[Hays, PA, February 12, 2017] – It appears that the tree that is home to the Hays Bald Eagle nest has been damaged in tonight’s wind storm. From our Bald Eagle camera view, at http://www.aswp.org, the tree is no longer visible.
“The tree was impacted by tonight’s storm and we will need to wait until daylight to get onsite and determine what has happened,” says Jim Bonner, executive director, Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania. The status of the nest and the eagles cannot be verified until daylight, when Audubon can safely visit the site.
We will continue to keep the media updated on the status of the nest and the Bald Eagles. Please see below a screen shot of the current view from the camera. The tree and the nest are not visible.

I watched that video - thanks for posting it.
She may well need another nest to lay egg 2.
I am pleased BOTH eagles were seen flying afterward.
I've heard some eagle pairs have a 'spare' nest.
Hope this pair did.

waitning for dawn........ *taptaptap .... :imbored:

High winds topple eaglenest tree
Feb 13, 2017
- High winds topple tree with bald eagle nest in Pittsburgh.
High winds have taken down power lines in Pittsburgh and also knocked down a tree that was home to an eagle's nest. Audubon has a camera that live streams video of the nest. But on Monday morning, all the camera was showing was the downed tree where the nest had been.

Winds that gusted up to 60 mph Sunday knocked over the tree at about 9:45 p.m. One of the eagles was sitting on an egg in the nest when the winds toppled the tree. Audubon is hopeful that the birds will nest again in the area if they survived the storm.

I dont mind eggs being lost - its very early.
There are a LOT of eagles around.
Nature knows what she is doing.
Eaglecam chat said both eagles are FINE

I AM SO GLAD both adults are O.K.

If they do not have a spare nest , they will look for even a hawk nest. A air did that in Delta one year. Nest was small but these eagles are resilient and I ma sure there are other trees around.

So glad it was only an egg and not a chick in it.

Mr. President & The First Lady
I am surprised you dont have a separate thread for this
Feb 15, 2017 shepnotes
About 2 pm quite an event
A juvie was in the nest digging around
when the nest owner returned ............ and .........
THE JUVIE GOT AGGRESSIVE!
I find that odd - really odd

They mate up a storm constantly but no egg yet
AT LEAST 2 juvies want the nest, a 3 and a 4 year old

I have thought about putting all three DC nest cams together. It does make sense. I am in the process of evaluating the entire eagle forum and will put this on the list Shep! Thanks!

they do believe egg number 3 was laid. so that would make 2 in nest.
