I happened to check the cam this morning and saw the chick like it was under mom and just poking out, but I knew something wasn't right. :sorrow:

Dad, I think brought in a tiny yellow prey and chicks dived for it, one grabbed it and the other two chased it around a bit, then I think another one got it eventually. The whole time I'm thinking, I know this is not happening on this very narrow ledge.

It has been reported that - "It appears the hatchling's demise was due to choking on food." Also reported on twitter - "The chick will be placed in the Massachusetts Natural History Collection at Morrill Science Center at UMass Amherst."

Dr. Tom French with MassWildlife came to band the baby falcons.
Dr. French said in his 3 decades of falcon banding,
- these were the feistiest chicks he had ever seen, but very healthy
