June 30, 2017: Mom brings food to the nesting box, but one of the chicks (probably the male), grabs it and refuses to share with his two siblings. On June 29, Glenn Stewart, Director of the Predatory Bird Research Group at UC Santa Cruz, attached bands to the three baby falcons. Approximately 25 days old, the one male and two females , hatched outside the 33rd floor of the 34-story Pacific Gas and Electric Building at 77 Beale Street. Stewart and his team set up the current nesting box in 2007. Since then, about 35 baby peregrine falcons have taken their first flights from the building. Peregrine falcons were already nesting on nearby buildings as early as 1986. San Francisco Peregrine Falcons Predatory Bird Research Group https://www.pge.com/falconcam |

Beans..thanks so much for the pic, vid and information...its so interesting how once they are banded, they become more adventuresome and assertive. Its like somebody has flipped a light switch.. Did anybody get the band numbers? |
