To be honest, we don't know what Dad is doing while Cadence is at the nest. Now that there are chicks, he could be busy trying to encourage the intruder to move along, which would take him away from hunting. The cache may also be somewhere else this year that we can't see. Perhaps Mom recovered from her wounds and is back. Dad knows her and may not engage her. My goodness, Newton was visiting both Bolt (her prior mate) at the bridge and Stacker (her new mate) at the Terminal Tower at the same time. Bolt did not drive her out, even when he had a new girlfriend. My understanding is that serious battles are usually between like sexes. It is rare for a male to engage a female in a serious battle...she is usually trying to court him and he wants the stronger female. I don't think Dad is weak. It's hard to know what is really happening here. |

Good thoughts and theories, Nadia... 2:10...mom just left...no vocals, but she was watching something in the sky and just sort of "lifted" off... Kids are alone.. |

We do not know what dad or Cadence is doing outside of cam view. Cadence is clearly improving with her feeding skills. Dad clearly is devoted to the chicks and eggs. Cadence doesn't seem to mind letting Dad take over for long periods of time vs most females at this age would rather stay with the young chicks and refuse or be hesitant to leave when the male comes in. Do we wish there was more food? heck yea... Is there a cache? We don't know.. When Cadence relieved Dad earlier today, it wasn't that long before he came back with fresh prey and Cadence did a good feed.. Mom has just returned. (2:41) At this point, that's all I know...LOL |

Eyases have been unguarded for over 10 minutes now. I'm hoping it's warm enough there and they will be okay. |

Dad just showed up. He took a few minutes to just look at them, but now he's sheltering them. |

Patsy6. I just noticed you were new here. Thanks for keeping an eye out. Temp is in the low 70's here today. It's a gorgeous day. Probably warmer in the igloo with the sun beating down on it. |

Probably warmer in the igloo with the sun beating down on it. Thanks, Nadia! I've been a Rochester, NY falcon watcher since 2012. I've lurked on BCAW a few times, but finally joined to keep up with Rochester's mighty Cadence. It's a great site! |

Union Cadence is currently doing a feed...I'm not sure they are hungry..The older chick has a fairly large crop...I can't see the younger chick's.. I'll post a vid this evening of how it started...quite interesting. (that's my teaser!) I'm off to work, so happy watching |
