:buzzybee: Just saw this:

The AP cam is a technical issue. The router on Anacapa has gone out. Explore can't reach any of the cams there. All three active cams went down at the same time. In addition to "Anacapa Peregrine", the "Kelp Forest" and the "Anacapa Island Cove" are out,

:buzzybee: This is from Dr. Sharpe on the cams:

Institute for Wildlife Studies Mod • 3 hours ago
The Anacapa cams are down because either Explore.org's or Ventura County Office of Education's equipment malfunctioned. I gave up streaming control of most of our cams when Explore.org took over. The only one I currently control is the BC cam. The only time I take cams offline is when we are doing maintenance because I turn off the power on-site.

And when he was asked: Are you privy to any status as to when AP cams might be back ?

Institute for Wildlife Studies Mod • 2 hours ago
No. They don’t tell me much of anything unless they want me to go fix the problem.

Anacapa went live a few minutes ago and they are reporting on chat that it looks as if #4 did not make it ... I am going back on the DVR to try to determine ... I can only see the 3 older ones at this time ...

Edit to add: Actually I realized it is probably #4 who is lying deceased to the right of his siblings. Will watch for feed.

Edit to add: :sorrow: #4!! Yes it is him, the parents have not come in yet, but I can see the fluff of his body separate from his siblings now. Gosh, I can not stand this, he was so strong from the beginning, just could not overcome the distance from his parents beak in comparison to his siblings to even have a chance of receiving food.

:sorrow: Such a shame to lose this youngster to starvation. A very sad situation. Parents have yet to remove the body. Thanks for the update.

Apparently she's working on #3 now. The first 2 were up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, & the third one was just lackadaisical. I don't plan on the watching this cam anymore this season, but I'll still be around as moderator.

I hope you don't stay away, but I understand where you are coming from. I know I could not stop my tears for the little guy while he was trying so hard to get food. It was very difficult to see and I know we all wanted him to make it. I just saw the 3 and all seemed to be moving normally. The "Circle of Life" was completed here approximately 30 minutes ago.

The cam has just come on again after being on highlights since after midnight. The chicks are in a huddle and I don't see a parent.

:flirty: As of 1:30 approximately nest time, there have been 11 feeds today per chat. Love these pics by Kelsey from earlier today:

Wonder what the chick on the right is talking about to the other two? :teehee:

Nap time! Sweet dreams!! :5val:

:spring1: The frequent, small, feeds continue. This capture was after the 14th feed that was a little larger than normal last eve, with pic by elen:

Larger crops than usually seen here. :spring1:

I don't think they received many meals today, but here's a great capture of the trio tonight by Trish Rawlings:

The 3 remaining chicks are doing well here. Here's a pic after a feed yesterday morning at 753 AM pacific time, 5/18. All had good crops after 3 successive food deliveries.

That's good that the remaining kids are healthy.

The meals keep coming in here, I know they have added gull chicks to the menu over the past week or so.

If Nate bands at Anacapa, it will be today or tomorrow. He is out with the seabird crew surveying Anacapa.

Anacapa chicks were banded a couple of hours ago. This is why they are all 3 hiding and huddled right now. I think we have 2 females and 1 male. Waiting for the band numbers and I will post when they are all in.
