Raining hard when I caught this pic. Mystic had the kids huddled at the back of the box to stay dry. 4th egg off to the side.

12:20 pm - Mystic keeping the kids dry.

Ha ha, Bonbon- easy to do! But we did have a nasty wind/rain storm pass through today. It tore the roof off a local marina! Now we have to get ready for some way below average temps this week - highs in the 50s.... Makes me glad Cantons babies are several weeks old, and able to go through cooler temperatures more easily. PS Thanks for checking in on Mystics family...
Just checked the cam- Mystic must have prepped her prey IN the nestbox again- Its windy and feathers are flying everywhere! Babies are looking great- nice big crops,,,

Fledge Week starts tomorrow!! Actually two weeks long this year, as it appears we have two girls and a boy this year. The boy seems like a wild child, like the 2014 ones were, so starting the watch a bit early. :hapdance:

Bev, Thanks for checking in on our FB page!! Sadly that is where we are gravitating, as the majority of pics are going to now be from a hand held camera, as opposed to a streaming one, with the second sudden unexpected shut off in two months of the live feed cam here.
As for the cam....answers are evasive from the building/business owners. I highly doubt anything will happen with the cam again. Sorry to say, and be negative, but it is what it is.
Ohio will probably end up with the only state funded cam in the Columbus one, eventually, as private building ownership and live feeds appear to be going down hill fast all over. Corporate cams and County cams seem to be going uphill...( Bowling Green, Ohio for example) So... taxpayer funded cams should keep going.
I am planning something long term, but it will rely on a Corporate entity. I do not have the presentation ready yet, but after fledge is over and summer comes, I will try to get something done with that...
All I can say is if the M's get evicted, I am going to TRY and have back up, like Donna did at Columbus, with a second box.
I am NOT saying they are going to lose their current box, but..... the evasiveness about the cam from those I know that operate it, has my uneasy feeling (6th sense?) antennae going up....
There is no good reason to not get simple answers.....
AND...I hope I am just plain flat out wrong!!! lol!

well I know how that goes. that is why Gord treads gently with property mangers, as we do not want to lose our boxes

if donations are needed for cam, put it up here .

I will try and bring some of pictures over when I get onto FB. I do not go on ?Fb very often , but will try

:loveshow: I am pleased to provide this day-after- Christmas observation of Canton's Peregrine Pair today! I was driving through Canton, on my way home when I decided to see if Mystic and Maurice were around. First I tried driving around the building to look for a sign of them. Then I parked and just watched the Chase (home) building. To my delight, a falcon took off from a ledge on the Chase Building, flew behind another building, and I lost sight of it. But 10 minutes later, it came back, seemed to head for the Chase building, but then veered toward the building across the street (but was it clutching something in its talons?), and I lost sight of it again behind another building. Within 60 seconds another falcon flew in to land on that favored ledge on the Chase building. It just stayed there like it was waiting....hint...hint.. I decided to move closer to the action. I parked right beside the Chase, zipped up my coat, pulled on my hood, and wrapped a scarf around my face. The air was cold and windy. I did a slow scan as I spun in place. There was Mystic! She was looking a bit plump as she perched on her favorite antennae on the Huntington building. Was she the peregrine I had seen going out on a hunt? She didn't move the rest of the time I spent there, but I think she was watching Maurice, who had flown over from the Chase to the building across the street. His head was bobbing away as he devoured the remains of Mystic's prey. He's a good "clean up guy" I was so happy to see them both out and about!

I am totally dismayed that our cam is not operational this year. We do know Mystic and Maurice are incubating eggs. Today Chad Steele posted on the Canton Peregrine Facebook page that first Mystic and then Maurice tried to drive an intruding adult female peregrine out of their territory. When it seemed the intruder was evading them, Mystic made a beeline for the nestbox, and the intruder flew directly over the nestbox as it made its way to the north east and out of Chad’s sight. Needless to say we want this banded female to be on her way OUT of Canton....
