Good grief, baby is in perfect position and it's taking so long to defeather the prey, now one chick is up front stealing the bites, but baby is getting some too.

Some of the bites are too big so she gives them to somebody else.

Everybody pushing for their final bites.

Niecey just ate the foot. Hope there is more food for her and Lil' Dad.

Niecey went to the stick and Lil' Dad is now on the point. Babies are trying to get into snuggling positions.

Hello all...I'm just bringing this info over here to all our HBG viewers in case you missed the info Under Breaking news. The Gulf Towers PeFa's (in Pittsburgh) are in danger of having their Chicks removed. Info Posted on FB:
    NEWS ALERT:
It's come to our attention that the nesting season for the Downtown Peregrine pair may be over sooner than we all think!

A development project of BET Investments next to the building where the 3rd Avenue nest is located has decided to obtain a United States Fish and Wildlife Service permit to remove the 4 chicks, who are only 2 weeks old. The permit is within the parameters of the newly relaxed Federal rules related to migratory birds.
The chicks are to be taken away from the nest and raised at a rehabilitation facility.
Louie, Dori, and the chicks only need about one more month for them to fledge and leave the nest forever.
We urge you to contact BET investments to express your displeasure and to urge them to delay the removal of the peregrine chicks.

I have no idea if the PA USWFS has already granted a permit, but many of us are writing emails. I've posted more info under "Breaking News" Reenie, ya got any influence over those people in the Rachel Carson Building?

Just saw one of those totally heart warming maneuvers by Lil' Dad. He came to the nest looking intently at the chicks. They were under Niecey. They came over to Lil' Dad crying for food trying to take from his beak. Of course, he had nothing to give. He the turned around and walked out on the stick only to reverse his course and come back into the nest to get a scrap, mostly feather and began feeding the chicks. They accepted it.. The whole time Niecey was still there and looking at him like, really?

So now I hear Lil' Dad and it sounds like a food arrival. :flirty:

I think he was trying to tell her they needed to be fed.

I missed the beginning of the latest feeding, but saw most of it. And I'm encouraging everyone, especially those of you from Pennsylvania, to either email or call to express your concerns about what is proposed in Pittsburgh.

Oh good grief, I see my pictures did not come out in order. I'll fix it later, no time now, but you can tell by the time on the photos.

I will of course send a message too, but in my opinion too much chick snatching going on all around. Can you imagine what a loss it is for the parents to not know what has happened to their chicks that they have devoted so much love, time, energy and affection raising them. Gosh, I hope they don't ever use new rules to come after the Harrisburg babies.

Poor Louie and Dori.

:girlsad3:

Thanks SGB

Just watched a feeding. All were fed, but one is VERY aggressive. The little one got most of the food. After the feeding Niecey went over to the point for a bit, cleaning her beak on the corner. She then flew up to camera perch, and there was a vibration when she landed. And it looked like she was going to fly through my computer screen!

Tuned in to see the kids by themselves. Parents must be out getting breakfast. Didn't see a feeding yet but I'm sure there was one or they wouldn't be alone. I'm sure a parent is near by though.

Niecey is up on the shield now. Chicks saw her, but since she didn't have food, they quickly lost interest. The next several days are to be quite warm here.

Looks like a blue jay. Lil dad needs to come to my backyard and get some of these starlings. They want to eat all the mealworms we put out for the bluebirds. :teehee: :teehee:

Good grief, Lil' Dad is down there plucking away on that blue jay head. That's not easy to watch.

Food for the babies, though. He's a good provider.
