Bev...have you talked to Gord...is there any reason why they are being taken (Bell and UofA?) - And where is the logic in leaving us two girls? Of course - Gord knows what's best. Just confused a bit that's all! |

I saw an explanation for U of A..
The chicks were banded this morning. There were two females and one male at this site; the male has been removed to the Pembina hack site to continue growing there. Fledgewatch will be interesting this season as the females (always much larger than their brothers), tend to have a more difficult time managing the logistics of first flights. I couldn't find an explanation for Bell (though, I did see a generic explanation for all nests)..I hate seeing 1 chick nests. I personally think its so unfair to the remaining chick...siblings seem so important. If it is a health issue, I sure hope the baby gets better and can be returned. If its a re population issue, then why not take from Genesee, Weber, Misericordia (nests with 4)...or Nutrien . Leaving Bell with One chick? Sad... I know that Gord knows best, but if Bell went to Pembina, I'm afraid I just don't understand or support that one.. I can understand trying to repopulate an area such as Pembina..That has not been particularly successful in the Eastern US...and definitely not in Georgia (my state). |

When they release at Pembina the chicks are near the same age. I do not get, why not take Genesse or Miscordia. the bad part is there is no watch at Miscordia and they don't have a great success at the nest in past years. Major roadways on 2 sides and very little of buildings to land on other then West Edmonton Mall(2 floors) and the Hospital ( 5 floors) |

I am no t happy with the decisions here either. male should have been left at u of A in my opinion and chicks were too young to band. so I am very frustrated and confused myself. And i do not support these ones. females at Bell do not do well, so if they left a male and took female that will be why, but if this is a female, then I give up |

u of A july6 we just came back from the U o f a . There was a soft rain. we had been able to go down much due to health reasons but tonight we saw chase, radisson and one of the chicks. the other one was too far in for us to see without the scope. WE were too lazy ot put scope up in the rain, bu t we did get a few shots. will post as soon as they are downloaded |
