Sorry catwoman, in the 3rd post above I referred to HopperJet as HopperJon and possibly caused you to call him that above. I went back to change it and had to do the same on Breaking News as I had refered to him as HopperJon there too this morning. I will attempt to remove the Jon from my mind forevermore: HopperJet HopperJet HopperJet... :teehee:

3rd feed that I saw that baby was slow getting up to get fed so he didn't get fed. He stood up straight for a few minutes, then he toppled over. He's good til tomorrow and then the yolk will have worn off.

At 19:09, HopperJet nervously arrives in Mom's absence. She came in seconds later and shooed him away! Wish she wouldn't do that as she could use his help feeding now that there's a 3rd chick that will be difficult for her to see it's open beak at times over the others as she feeds. Of course she doesn't know that.

Breakfast earlier this morning, but only the 2 oldest were seen with their beaks open by Mom and fed. The youngest was up with its beak open, but she didn't seem to see it. It also fell backward and was down for part of the feed. Another feed just finished up, but Mom only fed the 2 nearest beaks to her, so #3 was not fed. Again it fell backwards at least 3-4 times this time as it opens it beak and leans so hard trying to be fed it sometimes causes it to lose its balance and fall. I did think there was 1 point during the feed when it was to the side of the other chicks instead of to the back of them with its beak open that she might see it and feed, but she only focused on the 2 open beaks nearest her. Then #3 fell again. When up again in a different location, she just didn't see. This time after attempts in other feedings she offered one of the chicks a leg with the foot and it took it. But, after struggling for some time it finally fell out of its beak and Mom ate it.

I hope she sees it. Maybe when the sun shines on the nest, she'll feed them and she can see him. Otherwise, it will be the same thing as Harrisburg. :girlsad3:

Saw a feeding later this afternoon and #3 did not get anything. It was lying on its side behind the other 2 who were standing, then it got up and had its beak open, then fell onto its back and laid that way a long time. Right now I can't remember if it got up again. I was heartbroken. It's been a very long weekend of this with Harrisburg and all. Saw a couple other feeds here earlier today and it did not get anything. In fact, it has never been given any food since hatch...

Saw some movement from chick #3 at 7:46 this morning you usually see with the dying process.

Last night I watched a feed. The 2 big ones fell over, and the little chick had his mouth wide open (she could see it). Do you know what happened to the rest of the food? SHE ATE IT!!! :furious:

It will be up to you, SWINWK, to provide updates on this nest. I stopped watching the year a chick died due to the Mom's neglect. I thought with a new female, I could watch this cam. WRONG!

Catwoman, I hope we can continue with the same mutual respect for each other as in the past. I know I certainly will from my end and suspect it will be from yours too! So I must tell you the following...I disagree with you on this one and also with what many feel at Harrisburg. I finally made some of my feelings known on that blog earlier.

Of course, I like watching cams where nothing is going wrong. Little fluffy chicks are running all over the place! I will still do my moderator duties, watching what is posted. We've only got a few months out of the year. But I can do that without watching a cam for Anacapa (or Harrisburg). Why put myself through that if I don't enjoy it. :spingirl:
