Here is an article from today's Edmonton Journal regarding birds and windows. At least the article does more than talk about it; it gives suggestions on how to prevent birds striking our windows:

Elaine and Carly - Thanks for posting the links to those articles. It really is sad to have so many birds killed by flying into windows. And it doesn't surprise me that Toronto is high up on the list of bird strikes, with all its beautiful glass towers.

Two windows near my bird feeders are prone to bird strikes, but I've found that keeping the window screens up year round really helps: the birds just bounce off the screens and continue on their way.

Due you mean the outer mesh screens like for bugs?

Yes, they're fine mesh screens that cover the outside of the windows.
