Many hugs to all those who are missing Trooper (including myself). :loveheart2:

Same here...I guess my middle name is either "Denial" or "rationalization"....but I think Trooper is okay. I went back and looked at all the posts from that fateful day (11/4)...and I may go back and try and break down Mick"s video some more...but on 11/5, Mick was almost positive she saw Trooper on the ledge..(no pic)...It looks like this mystery male showed up for sure 12/5..he could have been there sooner, but it was too hard to identify the falcon in earlier posts...we all just assumed it was Durand (which it probably was).

I also went back and read Donna's blog...she thought the intruder was a female (of course, I know that's open for debate)

Now if 12/5 was really his first day on the ledge, then that's a month after the intruder incident. So either this male is totally unrelated to that incident or 12/5 was the first day he actually had the nerve to land on the ledge.

Whatever the case, its nice to finally see him in the box..but I'll be biting my nails come spring!!!

...my 2 cents worth for the day....

skygirlblue, I appreciate your summary and time-line of the events.

I didn't see Trooper on the ledge Nov. 5th. I thought I saw him fly-by the ledge. (I have a video of it and I believe that ljames posted a video of the fly-by.) Durand was down near the box and she started to vocalize and excitedly jumped near the ledge. Two birds flew by. Her foot was still sore then, so she lingered a bit holding up her foot, then she dived off the edge, but then flew into sight again, flying off in the direction of the 2 birds. Donna looked at the video and she felt it was a peregrine chasing prey, not 2 peregrines. Durand came back almost immediately and preened calmly for nearly 1/2 hour.

One thing that has run through my mind is that Trooper is okay and just left the area. Within a month's time he had 3 females on the ledge: Scout, Clementine and Durand. He raised Spirit alone. 4 months later, he had a run-in with an intruder- who I think was a MALE.
Maybe there was too much agitation for Trooper (who claimed the ledge as his for only 9 months).

I want to be the first to say that this is speculation.

Trooper earned my respect ten-fold. I miss him.

Mick, thanks so much for the correction...I misread your post.. :valemb: I really do think Trooper is ok! I've always felt that way. Now will he return/reclaim the ledge? I certainly hope so!! He was Scout's last mate and he earned his place on this ledge...that's why I will be biting my nails come Spring..at this nest, and several others...Until then, I'm gonna try and enjoy the antics of Durand's little friend :valglasses: ...

I could not agree with you more SGB - Trooper did indeed earn the right to be at this site. He took such good care of Spirit when the we lost Scout. He lived up to his name (he was a real Trooper)- making sure that she was taken care of Spirit all by himself. He sat on the LeVeque looking down on her for hours on hours bringing her food and keeping an eye on her. Then he followed her around the downtown area making sure she was well fed and safe. He is a strong falcon and I also agree that he is alright - Only time will tell and I don't think we have to wait too long either.

I meant to say, I wrote to the tech person, Lindsay and she is working on jump starting the ledge cams for us. she is having a little difficulty but working on it. We are experiencing some very high winds here - up to 45 miles an hour wind gusts and we had power outages last night. Lindsay thinks it might have been a power problem

According to the ground hog - no shadow means an early spring - maybe - hahahaha!!

I have just had a chance to review Micks tapes of NOv 4( I was picking up my dogs so did not know any of this happened)

After watching many alterations from the ground at my site, I am sure Trooper is O.K. He would not get involved in a female intrusion unless there were babes involved.
We had several intrusions at my Weber site just before migration. All were female.

I am thinking Trooper just migrated. And if he was in getting ready for migration prior to this , he would be resting and eating in preparation.

And when he comes back , he will reclaim his rightful place.

and until I review all the footage of the last month , I am remaining lips sealed of who is there, but I trust , those of you who have been following know what you are seeing. :sfthumbs: :sfthumbs:

I am hoping for an early spring. It is warmer here today but with that comes freezing rain and then cold and snow again. but that just means more hot chocolate with marshmallows, and more pounds.

Believe it or not, I am holding out hope that Trooper will return. The thing that got me so upset was of course seeing Trooper trying so hard to defend the ledge and then poor little Durand running around the ledge, seemingly not knowing what to do, then diving back into the battle. But the next day, all those feathers blowing around the ledge, and no more Trooper. But I pray that he was just chased off, or better yet, migrated. He was/is such a special falcon. Poor little thing, eveytime he turned around there was a new mate for him to try and win their affections and little Spirit chasing him all over town too for food. Still, he pulled it off.
:girlluv:

Yeah, I was just going to say, I'm getting the streaming.

Edit: I never really said it before I guess, but I think the new guy is the intruder from that day. Just my thoughts.

Thanks for all the nice videos and picture this morning. I've been watching about 1.5 hours and haven't seen anything, uh, unless they are sitting the box, which I haven't opened that cam.

No, I wouldn't be that unlucky, surely.

Thanks for the video Arles. Durand looks Huge next to him on the ledge in that video. He is a compulsive flyer, I think. We got a dive and a nice big wing flyoff. :loveshow:

Super video, Arles! Thanks for the D-dive. How interesting that the second time she flew off, she was flapping like a juvie.
