Jazzwl or anyone that might know the answer are these chicks old enough to be by themselves at night?
I have been watching now for at least half hour and they are moving around but there isn't a parent with them. I'm sure hoping they are close by it is 12:15 right now on my computer but the cam says 11:22 I'll keep watching but its got me a bit concerned about predators coming around

Kitten, the female is likely perched on the cam, she wouldn't leave them alone :egg8:

Shshen....No I don't know what happened!!! The cam has been down for about a week, just came back on line today. The 3 nestlings were banded on 5/12, that went well.

When the cam came up today, only 2 nestlings. The oldest nestling was 47 days old today.....that would be a very early fledge...it has, as of dark tonight, not returned to the nest.

I've been in contact with Barb Walker, she is of course aware of the situation, but only because the cam is on. She doesn't know how long the nestling has been off the nest, they will be trying to find him/her tomorrow. If the nestling/fledgling is alive, the male will be guarding it and bringing fish, it shouldn't be to hard to locate, if alive.

This is very hard, not having the cam to see if this nestling had enough wing strength to get lift...just have to wait and see.

Thanks for contacting BW. I've been reading her nesting notes that mention the cam down for 5 days.

When it came up again, she only mentioned about sighting 2 chicks in the nest. No further words expressing concern over the whereabouts of the 3rd chick.

I hope she will report good news back to you sunblink:

Hi Jazzel and thank you

Saw the post on their site. Possible the chick passed in the nest, but they will not know until the Ospreys permanently leave the nest.

C1 just fledged, about 4:15 cam time, I wasn't fast enough to get a pic. The male just delivered a fish to C2. Now the wait for C1 to return safely

Kitten, Yes, just returning in one piece is good  I wonder if C1 planned a soft ( for C1 ) landing on the female and C2, would have been a very hard landing without them :loveheart2:

~9/22/2011 - Update...

This evening I presented a new camera and hosting service for the coming season to the City of Dunedin. Thanks to Major Sponsors, Clearwater Audubon Society and Progress Energy, and to a Conglomerate of Sponsorships including the residents of Mediterranean Manor, CSX and St. Petersburg Audubon Society. Yesterday, I saw a screening of Dolphin Tale at Ruth Eckerd Hall and it was wonderful to see footage of beautiful Honeymoon Island and to be reminded of Winter's webcam site http://www.seewinter.com.
Soon the ospreys will be active at the http://www.dunedinospreycam.org nest cam in Dunedin as well. Both of the wildlife cam's in this area represent the entire region so well! The camera is an AXIS PTZ so we will have better picture, more capabilities and camera reliability this year. We will also compare the results at several platforms this year to include Ozona Elementary School, Cypress Woods Elementary School, both in Pinellas and a lovely new school, Odessa Elementary in Pasco County. A big thanks to Ms. Carney, Ms. Freeman, Ms. Rukavina, Ms. Love and Mr. Crabtree for their commitment and enthusiasm towards this project. Thanks to Mayor Eggers and the entire Commission, as well as the IT Staff and Parks and Rec Staff at the City of Dunedin as well. Mr. Gizzi, Mr. Finn, Mr. Ziants and Mr. Falcon are simply the best. In the past we've seen the ospreycam ospreys right around October 31st. Until then we will be installing and testing.
Will the ospreys be early this year as in the past or has this nest changed to the later nesting phase permanently? It will be exciting to find out. So for the new nesting season of 2011/2012 this is my first entry.
BW
