I spoke to Brenda at GRE today. She said that the cams will be turned on again probably Thursday or Friday. Brenda spoke of her respect and love of the falcons, how much she misses the female and regrets losing the eggs. She was really great to talk to!
Here is Brenda's news and she was kind enough to email pictures she took this morning;

The male has attracted a female. They are engaging in courtship behavior.
The female is 2007 Dot (M56 blk/grn) from Black Dog, mother was Nora.

THANK YOU BRENDA!

In my excitement, I forgot to add that Brenda looked for the lost female for 3 days. I welcomed her to BCAW.

Many Thanks Brenda!

Thanks so much for the news & pictures, Mick, & a big hug & thank you to Brenda for trying to find Mom! :thanku Great idea, Mick, to ask Brenda to join us as she obviously loves these falcons as much as we do!

But...what happened to the eggs? It might not happen, but maybe they would incubate the eggs (especially if their hormones are up)! We know because of Gulf last year that eggs can sit without being incubated for some time & still be good.

Good news !

Brenda: Thank you so much for all you've done to find Mom. And you have some wonderful pictures of the new female, Dot.

She is a four year old falcon, so I was wondering: where has she been before she showed up at this nest? One would expect that she would have had a territory of her own in the past (two?) years.
And that she would have had chicks or eggs at this time of year. :egg16: Maybe not, or something happened and she lost her nest (site).
Anyway, I wish her all the best, she will have a great partner if she decides to stay. :-)

Thanks, Mick! It appears that Dot is also a survivor. Unfortunately, a number of her siblings were killed by perching on that smokestack! :egg15:

I was confused whether think Bob meant the 2007 chicks or the 2008 chicks were found in the stacks ?? This post was dated 2009, he says he found Nora in 2008, and then recently found last years chicks... so the 2008 chicks ?

Anyway, I'm assuming they fixed the killer stack! I bet Alison knows.

Well I''m not Allison but yes they did fix it there is an article I posted a while back about it i'll have to go try and find it
Here it is

10/15/2009

Great news on Blackdog! Xcel Energy decided to put a screen over the natural gas stack to prevent peregrines and other birds from entering and getting trapped. We are so pleased - this will be an expensive endeavor, and while Xcel has been a great partner in peregrine recovery and management, we didn't expect this! They will be putting the screen up sometime in January.

I have been so engrossed in Genese that I did not see the good news. It is hard to loose a great female and I am grateful to Brenda for looking for her. :girlluv:

but it would be worse to loose dad as well. So this is good news and maybe they will have a clutch.

I am happy for you KF :loveshow: :loveshow:
