I was just reading in the background info on this nest that Louie beheaded his predecessor, Boris, then left his body in front of the cam. That puts a whole new perspective on how bad things can be to watch on these cams.

I had both Pittsburgh cams up, and Dori was doing an incredible job feeding all 5 and herself. I think she's young? When she had filled the big ones up, she would chirp all over the pile to see if anyone was hiding and hungry. Then Louie came in and helped, and they all ate more. It went on for about 15 minutes. The smallest one, who was up front, ducked underneath Dori and got more food from Louie. The chicks were all quiet and chirping, while COL chicks were screaming and fighting. I was thinking that if I had to rehab 5 of those loud ones, I might be a little stressed by all that noise

Barb, I love your description of the feeding.
That's how it was last year with Dori. She wouldn't even "chup" at the chicks. It was the quietest nest I ever watched (until they got older). Banding name is Mary Cleo, black/green M/93.  Born at the Landmark Building in Akron, Ohio in 2007. In late 2009 and early 2010 she was identified occupying 2 different bridges in Pitt, but didn't attract a mate.

This was her chick "delivery" method last year dated 5/9/2010 :suncrazy:

Image

And she used to stand at the back of the pack and take and eat the small bits of food when Louie was feeding dated 5/15/2010.

I enjoyed watching Dori and Louie so much last year, even though I missed Tasha. Louie gave 150% - a great Dad!

Thank you Mick. I do remember she didn't have a mate the year before. Well, she certainly is good at it now. That picture with the egg is unbelievable! And that is survived is even more unbelievable.

A big meal this afternoon. I'll bet at least 30 minutes. Now she's back at it again an hour later.

Great pictures, ladies! I think Dori is another natural mother. She successfully raised 5 last year, too, as a first-time mother! :flirty:

Sure wish we would hear more about a sighting of Tasha2, though...
