Sad news from the Harrisburg fledge watch team. Today the body of one of last year's males was delivered to the team while they were doing the watch. He was found dead two days ago at the train station, apparently from head trauma.
His bands are # 1126-11844, Auxiliary band 10/AS - Weight 670 grams, Male

I guess the PA. Fish and Wildlife was supposed to pick up the bird, but they never did. So, the person who found it brought it over to the group.

Interesting, because VA falcons usually end up in the Mid-Atlantic somewhere (Philly, Delaware, Maryland).

Such very sad news...With the train station so close to the HBG ledge (you can actually hear and see it on cam), I'm sure that NG and/or lil' dad must have driven him into something in an attempt to get him out of the territory....just a guess..Poor little guy...and you're right, Barb...how did he manage to get to HBG...wow..

That really is sad news and I'm sorry for the people who watched him. I stop in here from time to time, but am not a regular at this site. As a bird flies, Harrisburg really isn't that far from the Philly, Maryland, Delaware area where your birds usually go.

I was not on watch in Harrisburg yesterday when the bad news about one of last year's young ones from Richmond was announced. Am SO sorry about this, and don't know what to say. There is a pair of Peregrines that nested last summer on the Columbia/Wrightsville bridge south of Harrisburg, and one of the adults is from Richmond, but can't remember which on. No word on nesting there this year.

Its harder for me to see this this year because she & Harriet liked to snuggle, but I don't want her going over the edge prematurely either.

When I checked after 8 tonight, she was screaming and looking up. Its just about 11 and she's still moving all over. Very restless. We also have record heat here (100 today).

Love all the great pics!

I was so sorry to read about the loss in Harrisburg of one of last year's juvies. It is so sad to lose one of these beautiful birds.
