Well, I'm getting impatient...I want to see a parent...and how the heck are they gonna find the kids unless the kids start making some noise.

Kids are pretty active right now, flapping wings

Image

And calling out

Image

Their little heads are bobbing and watching the skies. I've seen some fly-bys in that little window of sky, but can't tell if it is a falcon

The box the kids are in now is temporary and is on the roof floor directly below the old one. The new box will be put back in the same place on the wall after kids fledge. The biologist said the parents can see them from where they always perch and if they do not take them food within 24hrs, they will put the chicks back into the old box. I have to tell you the old box is about 20 years old, so it's really not in the best of shape.

Video I took today at the banding and I was practically standing on the street, so there is traffic noise.

Winnipeg

One of the boys looks like he may jump down to the long ledge that runs below the baffles............... or maybe not. Watch Beatrix also, she's kissing her brother on the other side. Also the names for these four are Beatrix (F), Carson (M), Cade (M) and Fyfe (M).

Quoting TPC.

Rain - in honour of the weather this year - Annual rainfall for Brandon (since 1971) is 373.1mm. The annual rainfall for March through June is 119.7mm. From March to June this year, 298mm of rain has fallen - 152mm of which fell since the first Brandon chick hatched on June 2nd. Fortunately, neither the peregrines nor Brandon had to contend with the June 2nd, 1953 storm that dropped 80mm of rain in one day in Brandon!! Hopefully his new name will bring him luck and it will be sunny skies and dry weather ahead for him.

Rosser - in honour of the street that runs just south of McKenzie Seeds and which appears to be the street in our records that has the most observations and which provides the best view of the nestbox from the ground. Rosser Avenue was named after Thomas Lafayette (Tex) Rosser and here is his biography: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_L._Rosser. Hopefully our Rosser will also be known for his "hit and run raids", definitely a good skill for a peregrine!

I was in Brandon this morning and was fortunate enough to watch Brooklyn transfer prey to Hurricane. She took it to the communications (mts) tower to devour while Brooklyn watched his lady love. She saved some and took the rest of it to one of their cache's under the black ledge. A few minutes later she chased something, couldn't tell what it was, way out to the north. She came back and perched on northeast corner roof at the bottom of the clock tower where she could see her boys in the nest box. :girlluv: When I left they both were perched on the mts tower.

The tower is directly across the street from the McKenzie building. They can see onto the lower roof from the tower.
