One of the boys escaped the box this morning, he went exploring and then he was circling the box, probably looking for a back door or some way to get back in. He will be fine, there are lots of places to get out of the sun on the roof and Mom and Dad can see him.

Here is behind the nest box.

thanks Carolyn, for answering my question regarding the tower at Brandon. good spot to view from.

hope the little guy can hop ,jump back in. Or maybe like in Maine two years ago , mom will pull him back up there.

Even before the parent arrives on the nest box edge there is lots of screaming from the chicks.

I think he is the same one as yesterday that got out, but this morning he decides it's a good idea to go back in the box.
:woohoo:

Thank you, Carolyn and SGB, for the updates at these nests. Carolyn, I so enjoy your ground reports and pics. It's always nice to have a local person to see the different perspective other than the nest cam. Cute picture of the one who got out of the box and how nice that the cam could be maneuvered to see him. :flirty:

Thank you, I do enjoy going and watching them in person. This is the first year we had a cam and I enjoy watching it, but it's always nice to know what the parents are doing outside the nest.

Just after 6am both Rain and Rosser jumped out of the nest and onto the lower roof. We will have to wait for cam operator to locate them.

When you say "lower roof" are you referring to the section the box is sitting on? ....or a ledge below the nestbox ledge.... :shock Nail biting time!!!

Yes, I am referring to the roof the box is sitting on. It is a very large area, you could say football sized for the chicks with a four foot retaining wall all around it. Lots of room to explore, practice wingersizing and lots of places to get out of the sun. As a matter of fact the original hack box that was installed 20 years ago is still there, and would be a source for shade. No worries SGB, I'm sure they will be fine.

Only one actually ate...the second one took the food away, but the parent took it back and then left... Then the kids discovered a puddle of water...I'll post video of that later..
