Today's cuckoo was a yellow-billed. Chimney swift again.

Thanks for the menu report, Greg. I don't imagine there's a whole lot of meat on a Chimney Swift.

The adults were perched in the shade on the Brandywine Building at about 1:00 pm. Building ventilation won't do them any good unless they go inside; AC vents hot air to the outside, right?

Thanks for the picture, Kim. Have just learned that our Little One in Harrisburg was on the nest ledge a bit ago. He may be over extending his welcome from the adults at this point, but so nice to know he's doing well.

ANYWAYS, JANE, IT SAYS for the period of July 25 to about August 6th, or until the birds have successfully managed to fly without ending up in the water, needing to be rescued.

I GUESS WE WILL HAVE TO MAKE PLANS TO GO DOWN AGAIN, BUT I'M NOT GETTING IN ANY BOATS, WOULD LOVE TO, BUT WOULD PROBABLY END UP IN THE DIRTY RIVER, LOL!

Well if I can figure out a way to get my kayak on my car, I am going to plan on spending a day on the river! Is it really gross? If I can't get it on my car, maybe I will just rent one from that place.

Jane, glad to hear he's doing well!

We had a real scare today! Someone called Tri-State saying they saw a dead baby falcon by the ING building. Greg went over and checked it out and it turned out to be a Mourning Dove. Sorry to hear about the Mourning Dove but PHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reenie told me about the deceased Modo. One time on falcon watch in Harrisburg, a lady came up with a box and said she had found one of the babies on a sidewalk, so she picked it up and "rescued" it to the box. Turned out to be a baby Pigeon, but was touched that this lady cared enough to do what she thought was a good thing. And Kim, if I wasn't going on a birding trip to SE Arizona, I'd be out in the river myself.

I didn't mean the hot air vents from the A/C. Some buildings have venting like the Univ. Bldg. in HBG where the cooled air seeps out. The family up there found that spot and it was shaded too.
What a scare today!! Don't need things like that.

Kim, great if you can go to the River. A great experience i'm sure.

SO GLAD THAT WASN'T A FALCON KIM! THANKS FOR CHECKING IT OUT GREG!

I've been lurking on here the past several days....just trying to keep up... :wildman: Thanks for all the great posts...and so glad the boys are still hanging around....If I lived anywhere near that bridge nest, I'd love to journey out, sit in a boat (with an ice chest, of course) and help watch for the kids..Kim, I hope you're able to go...

I only saw one falcon on the building around 4:20 this morning. I know WB is still around because I saw him chase RG around the nestbox real quick this afternoon! LOL! Here he is on the ledge before he jumped in to chase her.

Great catches in the nestbox, Kim!

That must have been quite a scare after being told a baby falcon was down. Thanks for checking on it, Greg. I also like morning doves, but not as much as our falcons!

Kim, that would be great if you can get on the river to watch the falcons!

OK....parent (I think CJ...not sure) in the box....still as a statue....and one of the boys joins him....lots a "dead air" in this video...so had to add a little irreverent musical entertainment so you wouldn't go to sleep...

Cute video, SGB. Someone's home sitting in the scrape right now, but I'm not sure if it's CJ or RG.

I do hope the Wilmington family is keeping cool today: Current temperature is 100, and the heat index is 123.

The falcon's still in the scrape . . . and still not moving much, probably from all the heat. I hope CJ, RG, and the kids can find a cool place to roost tonight.
