:clapegg: Thanks for the updates, Bev. Carol and I are enjoying our holidays (day 4 out of 5 in Montana) before returning to Alberta where we'll be incommunicado for a bit  We'll be home in mid-August. I'm not sure where Elaine is, but I'm sure she's enjoying herself as well.

Hey bob, glad to see you checking in, even while on holiday! We are also planning a trip to Montana sometime later this year coincidentally. Have a safe trip.

[b]clinical science

We went to check here, after Weber and only had 2 kids in sight. We had Red and blue. Red screeches and that is how you know it is her. she is also huge. I like to see all 3 before I leave but Becky had seen all 3 in the afternoon so it was late and we went home. We saw mom on the north side of Suite hotel (campus tower), dad was in the vent at back of Ed building and Red was on an aerial on back of the building behind Ed building. She seems to love it here. She then flew from place to place , where she knew food is sometimes. When dad flew out north west she followed but did not go too far. She then flew back to college plaza and then to extension building, by Windsor apartments. When we had come into the area , we saw a kid on Maz eating but we do not know who.
Blue was on on aerial on top of College plaza. So we have seen all 3.

WEber buidling

After a long wait ,we finally saw 2 of the kids f ledge for the first time. It was day 44 for the 2 oldest.I never get tired of the thrill of watching them. Of course your heart pounds also.  Miss Edmonton flew off the Weber and flew all around showing one of them what to do. She did this several times and then he flapped his wings and became vocal. And I knew he was going to fly. He did exactly as he was shown. It is jsut so amazing to see the adults follow them.
Miss Edmonton was off like a flash and followed him all the way and was right behind him when he flew to top of roof. then he was off again and did it a few more times. Bravo . Of course, Peter said , "did you get the shot to see the band." Whoops!!! I was just too busy watching. But we did get some shots before he flew . their flying started out at back of building so we then went around to southeast face .

Just then another youngster flew off the opposite direction (east to west and around and onto roof)than the first one but did the exact same thing. With dad flying behind him. He also went one more time. Missed that shot also :sunno: :sunno:

We only ever did see 2 kids at once. Are they the same two or different???

It was getting late so we headed off to university, all 3 dogs in tow. they do enjoy the walks.

Peter is downloading all the picutres from here so you may have them sooner than all the others I have,.

SAturday august6/2011 Weber buiding

Well did we get lucky today. When we first got there we only saw Miss Edmonton.the we saw a head and then the body of a kid on roof facing west. WE went up to parkdade and hit the jackpot. Miss Edmonton flew off and the youngster followed. she was giving him gliding lessons. Not real high up but she flew and he followed. Similar to the show we got at the University a few days after YB flew. Adn yes, Peter had the camera so we have pictures. And coincidentally, this was a YB also. Just awesome to watch. Peter loves this part and so do I.

WE jsut kept going around looking for more kids.
as we were looking at south side of Weber I saw a youngster land on west face. so we rushed around and there he was , sitting like a old pro on top of roof just above the B of Building. We are not sure if we can read the band. Will see, as pictures are downloading. So now we have DAd sitting on an antennae on south roof, this one on west roof , perched like an adult, and Miss Edmonton on an aerial on north roof , one kid on nest box roof. so I go walking, and yes, I am so excited. I see the 3rd kid peeking out on roof just a ways from nest box on nor ht roof. I have 5 falcons in view . this made my day :girlluv: :girlluv:

3 kids. Now we know 2 are flying and whether this one is or not, we will have to wait. but 3 kids. :clapegg: :clapegg: :clapegg: The youngest kid is 41 days old today.

Clinical science

We only have a short time today but saw Red on same building by Ed building ,and mom on an aerial on same building. Then mom started chupping and flew into vent on back of Ed building and then back to where Red girl was. And after chupping some more she was off. Shortly after she came back and perched on same aerial and RG stayed put. We looked around for dad and the boys but they were probably out exploring. We will try to hit here tomorrow after supper. It is the best time. I have to see all 3 kids. :sunno: :sunno:

weber slideshow fro Friday aug5 and Sat august 6.
I will do Aug 4 and 7 later lots of shots to chooseform for aug7

August5. when we got there if you remember ,it took us awhile to find any kids. then we had one on north corner. Miss Edmonton flew around and around above building and swooped down, showing juvenile how to do it. We went around side and saw him flapping and when he started talking , we knew it was going to happen.

Miss Edmonton was there all the way. I did not get him flying but got him coming in. he flew off north face and went arounf the back(west). he flew out a bit south west and then back and up on roof of west face. You can go back and read report. We saw 2 flying that night and we believe they were both first flights , just from what we have seen in the past 6 years.

I put a picutre of building with 2 direction on it.

When we get there we are usually facing east part of building. I call that the front and west , I call the back. south face has a road adjacent to it. Parkade is below east face. we go there but are very careful. If kids are present there , we stay off.

lost my post again :sunblink:

Weber sunday august7

We were down for a few hours in the afternoon and were treated to flying displays by 2 kids and 2 adults. What a treat. It was very windy so landings were sloppy. We only got yellow and blue bands but... who knows . they just flew around and off the WEber building while we were there and of course a lot of tagging.. these guys are qyiet compared to others we have watched. We did not ever see 3 at once that day.
I will post some of these later

WEber Monday august 7/2011

We went down right after Peters work and I was determined to see 3 kids. Our friends at Bin 104 said they were treated to flying but only saw 2 kids. Now our youngest would be 44 days old and our youngest male at Uni did not fly till day 44 so...
WE were treated to flying but again only saw 2 kids at a time but that does not mean 3 were not flying. one could go back to roof and one fly off. One of the ones that flew moved to southwest corner of building so I went to investigate there., as we cannot see back of building from where we were or north side of buidling. Peter drove over to east side , where we usaully start from. ( silly us forgot our cell phones :sunno:
:sunno: )
I just kept walking around back of building and around north side while keeping one kid in view. I spotted one lying down on north eastcorner by nest box. I figured one I had jsut seen fly . theh one from west corner started catwalking over to northwest corner and then the other one moved there also. I moved back and took a closer look and saw 3 heads . Yes, there are 3in view. My heart was full.

the one in the middle is RB and you can see it is darker that the other 2

I walked quickly to where Peter was and we drove back. we got picutres of all 3. Peter asked if my one kid had flown and when I said no, he said, as he was driving, 2 were flying by east part of roof. he could not stop to take picutresYes, 3 are flying.

So I am happy. I am psoting the picutres of all 3

with Peter out of town tomorrow, I should be able to work on most picutres from both sites., if I get my chores done

UNiversity
We have been going to University also but I never see more than 2 the last few days. We always see red and we are not sure sometimes if we see yellow or not. but I know all is well. Yellow and dad are probably learning skills. but I will keep trying to find 3 at a time for the next while. I do realize that one day one or 2 will move on. Usually we have at least one till mid Sept the females usually stay put , although last year red male and blue female were around till i went on holidays.

When I do my shots here I will do one slide show of jeans photos.

WEber

Peter and I spent several hours here on Sat and Sunday and I went down last evening for several hours.

the three kids are doing well and lots of displays of flying. You never see the 3 flying and playing , just 2 at a time.
I only saw one adult at dark last night so may take a trek down there later today to make sure we have 2. It is this time of year that intruders come along.

I have so many photos I do not know where to begin, but I will start somewhere. I know I keep promising but life is hectic right now. I have them fixed , just not in Pb yet. I am finding Pb not as user friendly. I keep posting things in the wrong places :furious: :furious:

Clincial

Peter and I also keeping track here. We never see 3 together anymore but we know they are getting more independent. It is hard to get the bands becasue of lighting at the time we take picutres, but we always know RG because of her yelling for mom or dad. I did not get there till late last night and saw mom sitting on College plaza and one kid was eating on north face of College plaza. I believe I saw one across street on another aprtment building , but cannot be sure.
I phoned Jean , as I saw her peeking out her window and she did not think it was REd eating as it came in quietly. She said she has been seeing gall 3 kids , just not at same time.
I am working on several slide shows here.

I must say I feel cheated this year as I did not see as much as I wanted to with getting sick. Spread myself too thin I guess. But I do enjoy walking and looking for them and I realize they venture out and may not perch at College Plaza all the time at night.

Just heard from Bev. Our adult male was found downtown, on either Tuesday or Wednesday night, with a head injury (she described it as "a bonk on the head"). The biologist picked him up from the Strathcona Rehab Centre yesterday, and he is now monitoring him at his home. He hopes to release him back to the University soon. As soon as we hear more about how well he is doing, or the extent of the injury, or how well he is recovering, we will let you know.

Oh my goodness, Dad at Clinical Science has been injured? I sure hope that he is going to be ok and released soon. I wonder what happened to him and if all the kids are ok.

Thanks for that information, Elaine. I'm so sorry to hear of this news. We know that Dad is in the BEST of care, though. Positive thoughts for this wonderful dad.

hi all,

I will do up a full report later but Dad is with Gord. He is observing him. Gord is the best person do this. He takes him home. Gord notified me as soon as he had word.
We know dad was at Uni on MOnday noon for sure. And Gord said Rehab had him for 2 days before notifying him, so that makes it Tuesday. I did not see him Monday night at bedtime.

I should hear from Gord soon but until I do Peter and I and Becky and Jean, when she is home, are trying to keep an eye on the kids. Radisson is a great hunter but to all of a sudden look after 3 kids and herself , Gord realizes that she needs help and will do so.

My guess is that dad ran into the downtown territory but he does know better. so I will have to wait and see what Gord says.

Our hopes are that he just has a bonk on the head and is alright. Gord would like to return him ASAP. I will keep you informed but I am busy monitoring 2 sites now.

Think Positive thoughts. This is a critical time as kids are in middle of training.

Bev

Clinical science

I had a windup at my house to day and it was so nice to just sit and chat, with a group of nice people.

So I went and checked my computer and I had a message from Gord this afternoon.
Quote
"Male has nothing broken, but is very sore - he likely has some bad bruising and lots of talon holes in him. He has one side of his neck and part of his face plucked - a sure sign that he was in a tangle with another peregrine. "

Gord will keep me posted. As much as we want dad back there soon , we also want him healthy enough to hunt and defend if need be.

I also wondered about his getting into a scuffle because of one of the kids, as he knows very well where he cannot go. When I talk to Gord on phone I will ask exactly where dad was found.

BEv

I am keeping my positive side open. When MIss Edmonton was in her big fight , they kept her overnihgt and then released her. the second fight , she just went to Weber and healed on her own. that dad got a good bonk , he may need a bit more time.

Gord took care of kids friday afternoon and so a few of us will keep moniotirng
