Brandon
I went up to the parkade this morning after seeing no chicks on the wall ledges at the McKenzie bldg. I watched for a while and could only see the parents on the mts tower. I saw Hurricane fly off the tower and immediately heard some squawking. I looked to the west and there was a chick standing up on the very top of the Scotia Bank building, almost two blocks away from McK bldg and about five stories higher than the lower roof. I could see yellow tape on his band with binos, it was Rosser doing a bit of flapping. Hurricane landed on the roof where I couldn't see and Rosser followed her. Maybe five minutes later I heard more squawking, Hurricane and Rosser were flying high above the McK bldg and I watched them play talon tag. So, I guess Rosser has officially fledged. :girlluv:
Rain was perched on the southeast wall against the pillar wall while Rosser and Mom were flying around.

They will be shutting down the cams very soon, not sure when and probably won't get any notice, they will just turn them off. I haven't really been watching the Brandon cam because the chicks are hardly ever in view with the cam pointed in one small area. :sigh That's okay because I can go and see them in person. The Radisson cam needs to be reset. I think there was a power outage which messes up the view or moves the position on the cam and now the view is on a store down on the street. The cam operator has been absent since yesterday. :hmmmm

My mother and I were down at the McKenzie building this morning around 9am and both boys were on the black ledge preening. After about 20 minutes Rosser flew over to the communications tower across the street. Apparently Rain wasn't very happy about being on the ledge by himself and was very vocal. We talked to a couple, who are lurkers on the forum while Rain did some preening and then lay down on the corner of the ledge. They left and we were going to leave also, so I started to cross the street and that's when Rain flew off the black ledge over to the communications tower where he perched on the bottom girder. We hung around for a bit and watched and then I took mom home. I came back after that and could hear somebody squawking and it was coming from somewhere near the tower. I went around the other side of the tower bldg (back lane), I spotted Rain up on the roof still squawking. He flew off the building towards the McK bldg and then I heard no more squawking, so I figured he was on the lower roof with his brother. And just because, I checked on the west side of the McK bldg and found a chick laying on the top window sill (seven stories), so I guess that's where Rain flew after he left the mts tower building.

Thank you SGB, Yes the transmitters were activated immediately after they were attached to the chicks and released back onto the roof.

Great photos, Carolyn. Looks like Rain is on a fairly narrow ledge. Thanks for all you and your mother do looking after those boys. :flirty:

I went and checked on the boys this evening, Rain was making his rounds from rooftop to rooftop on every side of the McKenzie building and Rosser seems to like to perch on the communications tower.

Cute video of the kid dancing with his food. No music, so I sang along with it. I really shouldn't do that. . .

Hee hee...even better...YouTube is quite fickle...you can add music from their music library (not the best)...but sometimes it doesn't work...even though they tell you its working...I guess ya get what you pay for...

A leap of faith and maybe some calculation involved, too. Fun to watch. Thanks, Carolyn.
