I went downtown this afternoon to catch a glimpse of Lady Victory before she is placed atop the monument on Tuesday. Unfortunately I was too early and the street and sidewalks in front of where she is being displayed were still blocked off with heavy equipment. As far as I can tell, she looks, well, BIG! Seriously, she is behind a fenced area and still packaged up for her eventual move to the top. I plan to go Sunday or Monday morning so I can get as close as they will let me. I will report then, hopefully with pictures.

OBTW, someone was on the ledge but I couldn't tell who. By position, I would say Kinney.

I tried once again to see Lady Victory but too much traffic plus a huge fire department ladder truck with lights on. I am not sure why they were there, but it sure tied up traffic. Tomorrow I am getting up EARLY and going downtown.

I finally was able to get close enough to Lady Victory to get a few pics with my camera phone [regular camera is broken]. Even crossed the street to get right up to the fence until I was asked by a policeman to go back across.
First picture taken with the monument in the background.

I am right next to the fence to show the detail of globe that she stands upon.

The torch that KathyQ likes to sit and watch her fledglings

Crane to the right will lift her back up to the top beginning at 9am EDT tomorrow.

I'm waiting for the statue to be lifted and so is Kinney apparently :lol:

I have 406 screen shots (was watching the Dutch soccer team playing against Finland in the mean time, they won 1 to 0 ) :teehee:

And he is on the ledge all the time. KathyQ was in the box too for a short while. She's not that interested I think, more of male thing maybe ??? :biggrin:

Lady Victory's return to the top of the monument was delayed due to windy conditions. Here is a link to the article which includes some great pictures of her arrival. Hopefully tomorrow.

DEF, you can relax today also.

Still too windy for Lady Victory to make her trip to the top so we are hoping for Thursday or maybe even Friday.
