ljames I'm with you if they were going to put a nest there they should have fixed the problem in the begining and now take the nest and what so they think that will make the falcons stay away they need to get on the ball now and figure something out before nesting starts again beecause you know as well as anyone they will nest in the stones :thud

Didn't someone e-mail the people in Hartford? I feel like we should try and do something about this situation.

Great catch, ljames! Obxbarb, I agree that we should try to do something about this situation. I would be happy to e-mail Hartford, but I don't still have their e-mail address. I'd like to know whether they are planning to replace the nest tray, hopefully with a raised nest box. That might not solve the flooding problem, but at least it would be better than things are now.

I sent a email to the place that says contact us this is what I wrote I don't know if it will get to the right person or not.
We'll just have to wait and see I guess

I belong to a forum that watchs the falcons closely and we are just wondering if you can give us a contact person to email about the Falcon nest please, I understand you are very busy people so any help is very appreciated.

Thank you Alison and Kitten! Lets see if they respond. Steve Living, DGIF biologist in Virginia, came from Connecticut. If no one responds, I will ask him if he knows any of the state biologists up there.

Neat video, SGB & if you haven't posted it on FB, I'm going to post it. Reenie will just love it! What a racket those babies made! :girlluv:

Speaking of a dangerous place for the chicks to fledge from... :omg right over a highway! But the scenery there is beautiful.

I watched that a while ago and it sure would be nice if they had something to cover the front of the box with I know its almost impossible but still you would think after some of the other mishaps they might try

I'm surprised that they even attempt to band them. That is such an 'anything could go wrong' situation.

Anyone tracking the Seattle falcons....

This was posted by Glenn Stewart yesterday on the SF PGE Yahoo Group:

A hatch year peregrine wearing a black band (A-62)was reported to me by several people, including the observer who photographed the bird in Alameda. I did not band it but learned that it was banded in downtown Seattle on June 10, 2011. I do not publish all my band numbers because observers might see just one letter or number and extrapolate the rest making an assumption about its identity. Thus, it is very important to always read the entire code because I am not the only researcher using black bands on the west coast and there are other codes out there. --glenn@scpbrg

I only got one good year of watching seattle but I have been trying to keep up with the information I posted a while ago that island girl was doing great and spotted in Veracruz.
Thanks mwplay for the update

Racine--there is a falcon standing on the ledge as evidenced by this moving shadow.

I just wonder if the little juvies that turn up here sometimes are the ones hatched here.
