For some reason I thought the box was situated further back on the roof. I can easily see now how the 2 got blown off and hope that the box is moved back a little.

I am glad the surviving chick is getting press, but those 2 newscasters laughing as they described how the 2 didn't make it... :egg18: Grrrrrrr

If there is any comfort in all of this, I know Zephyr died doing what came naturally to him, providing for his family.
I thought I would bring this forward. I think Carolyn's video really shows off how special this little tiercel was. Fly high and mighty Zephyr and protect your fledgling chick.

I am SO SAD.

Zephyr gave me such a different appreciation for peregrines. All along, I've always heard that if they are not 100% on top of their game, they would never survive. Zephyr taught me different. And he raised a family.

I'm so sorry to hear this.

:tissue: That is so sad! I wonder if it was from wind issues. It has been SO windy here for the past week, I hope the little one stays safe!

That is what I gather marineof2. I wish they would move the box back. It seems like it is rather precarious hanging off the edge like it does. Then the little ones would have a safer place to land if it is windy.

It is beyond devastating to have lost Zephyr, one of the greatest tiercels of all time. I read the news yesterday, but it is too hard to accept. I will attempt to pay tribute to Zephyr at a later time.

It is heartbreaking to read that Zephyr is gone. :tissue: Truly a tiercel who triumphed against the odds. Poor Guinevere, losing her long-time mate. :egg15:

I wonder if they really think there were only 3 chicks this year. There were 4, although the 4th lived for only days. I just wanted to mention this wee one because just because he wasn't in the world long, doesn't mean he wasn't here. He was the first of the tragedies to plague this nest this season.
:egg10:
