Thanks Kittenface for letting us know about the cam. Quick report from South Bend: It was down to ONLY 99 degrees an hour ago, but now it is back up to 100 degrees ! My guess is that no smart, self-respecting falcon would be hanging around in this heat. The only reason to be on the rooftops right now is TANNING ! With that in mind, I am gonna go down right now and check to see if our falcon friends are up there catching some rays.

:duh: Wait a minit ! Falcons don't go tanning !

Seriously, I will post with any updates, but I'm not expecting too much action in this heat.
Gotta go drench my cat or maybe ice him again. (In this heat he is glad for any relief. ) Maybe I will give him chicken popsicles for a dinner treat.

Kittenface, I was ""box-watching"" the night of those photos. (Did not report earlier because this my first time on-line since then.) From about 10:15 to 10:45, I saw a falcon at first perched to the left of the box, then on the wooden rail in front of the box, then the falcon moved to the right of the box and perched there for at least 20 minutes at which point I left. On my way home after 1 a.m., I passed by the box and saw the falcon perched in exactly the same spot just to the right of the box. Illuminated by city lights, she was quite visible with binoculars. (My binoculars, not the falcon's.)

I think this was Guinevere because I was told that Abigail has no white front because she is a juvenile. The white front was quite evident on this falcon. Such a beautiful bird !

Since so many of you wanna know:
Chicken popsicles are easily made by freezing small to moderately sized pieces of raw chicken. I saw this trick in a zoo video where the frozen treats were enjoyed by the zoo's big cats. They love to lick even before the treats thaw enough to eat.

Funny how quickly some folks here realized I'm a cat spoiler !! :teehee:

Thanks for the report sbwatcher. You are right about the white chest. At this point Abigail has not developed those beautiful white feathers that distinguish adults from juvies; therfore it must have been Guinivere perched at the box looking the regal lady she is!

So happy you clarified you were the one with the binocs

Thank you for the chicken Popsicle recipe too!

sbwatcher, I always get excited when I see that you have posted here. Thanks for your report about seeing Guinevere, although I worry about you being downtown at night.

It is interesting that we have so many cat lovers/spoilers on this forum. I thought you were kidding about the chicken popsicles, but what a great idea. Thanks for the instructions.

WOW. . chickensicles!!! What a great idea!! What I have done in the past (when I used to have a dog) was I froze (in an ice tray) beef/chicken broth and gave to her. She loved them. of course, it helped that she loved to play with ice cubes to begin with!!

I've never tried anything frozen with my cats. . . hmmmm. .sounds like a project for this afternoon!!!

The things we talk about it is great love the ice tray thing Sophie doesn't really like meat
(my cat the vegetarian) but she loves the broth from soup I'll try that.
Now back to what I was going to say t
Thanks sbwatcher and I agree with Susan about you being down there so late please tell me at least you had someone with you.
We really tend to worry about each other very much, this is one big family here.:thumbup

5:55 A.M. this morning, falcon spotted sitting on Abigail's favorite corner of the County City building, looking a bit as though she was collecting herself for another day, some feather ruffling going on. Couldn't see who it was, she had her back to me. After about 10 minutes, she flew away.

You must have been ready my mind sbwatcher I was just going to post the cam is back and there is someone on the ledge right now all you can see a wing
at first I thought it might be left over prey it wasn't moving at all then it kind of fluttered it is right under the time stamp so you can't see it very well
Glad you got to see Abby it is great to know she is doing well and "G" is doing an awesome job

Spotted this morning@ 6:10 am: Two brown falcons flying !
If the early bird gets the worm, what does the early bird-watcher get? I open the question to the forum at large. :-| :?:
