Ever since Kinney passed away images of KathyQ cause me so many mixed emotions. I realy realy love to see her (she and Kinney were my reason for logging in at BCAW), but at the same time, seeing her like this makes me intensely sad. Somehow I can't cope with her loneliness and project too many human emotions on KathyQ. That's not good, I know, but I can't help it.
I desperately hope for a very fine mate for her, a.s.a.p. I feel comforted and grateful by knowing that we all wish that for her, and that I can express my uncertainties and sorrow here.(Sorry for my english, I very hard try to say the things the best way I can)

yes, I feel the same way Ase and Susan. My heart breaks all over again each time I see her by herself...

Oh Ase you said exactly how we all feel it is very sad to watch her but she is a great one and will find a very good mate never will I forget the great Kinney but she will go on and maybe we will have a few more years with little ones here

This afternoon, while I was doing some work on the computer, I kept the indy cam open on the side. . kathyQ was there a very long time. At one point, she moved over to the left side of the ledge and it appeared that something caught her attention just to the left, and outside the box. As much as I miss Kinney (obviously, since I still have his name showing on this forum..) I was so hoping to see a falcon swoop up to the ledge to be with her. That day will be bitter sweet for many of us but I feel sure it will come.

It is so comforting to see that she still "loves" her home and at least, to me, knows that this is where she needs to be. .

Same thing happened this afternoon. Something caught her attention. She flew off but was back the next refresh.
Did that one more time and the third time she stayed away for quite a long time. Right now she is back on the ledge. I will be jumping for joy when/if a new tiercel finds his way to her and her territory.
It does give a sad feeling to see her sitting there all by herself. (Hugely humanising of course but as long as we know we do, it's not that bad . . . :wink:

)

"Okay, I need to calm down but I got a report from Ken Koons who has an office in Chase Tower that he has seen another bird perching on a hazard light at One American Square (old AUL building). I knew she was acting suspicious. She needs to entice him into the box now....assuming it is a he.

He's got a scope in his office and he was very good last season about keeping us posted in the juvies whereabouts when they got out on the ledge. Says he sees bands but can't get a read on them.

I'm thinking of going down Saturday instead of Sunday because Sunday looks very rainy. Will keep you posted."

OH. .I am sure there is an admirer . I've had the recorder on the cam on and off for the past several days.

These occurred between 1 and 1:20. There were several hop to the ledge/to the box/back to the ledge periods. . I never saw another bird on the ledge cam .. .But, there's gotta be something out there that is holding her attention. .

Great news, gigi! I'd love to see her find a really good new mate, but only if that is what she wants. She is a very special falcon.
