Guinevere ( ('m assuming it's her ) was seen last Friday, Jan 11 on top of the County-City Building.

This means she must have traveled all the way from the northeast to the northwest corner of the building since Dec 31st , which is more activity than some of us birdwatchers cam claim at this time of year. :lol2:

Happy New Year everyone :corkpop:

Gunievere spotted Monday evening, turning on her perch. sbwatcher goes back mentally to that time just a few days ago.....

Hmm, my good binocs are lost, so this is actually either a peregrine or SBMSP ( South Bend's Most Solitary Pigeon ). Movements, not very pigeon-like. The bird is turning, catching the wind, maybe trying to smell something. I look up from my bench by the CC Building, wondering if the bird is looking down. If so, surely she sees me, after all, I am the only human out here in the :cold: after office hours. However, I don't want to give myself too much credit as being worthy of her notice.

She turns again, perhaps testing the wind. And then, without warning, FLIGHT! And I see white and brown. And I see the peregrine shape, wings pulled in for a short flight. This ain't no pigeon !! Suddenly all the cold is worth it. :snowflake2:

She flies over the top of a building, the building blocks my view and I lose sight of her. But then, walking back towards my car, I see a little shape in a high up window of the Tower building. I go back to the car and get my bad binocs, and oh my gosh, there is a falcon up there perching in that little window ! The window faces west, so perhaps not a good spot for stormy, blowy weather, but it is pretty calm tonight, so the falcon remains. I have discovered a falcon hiding spot! Suddenly I really like this falcon watching activity! :loveheart2:

not me! Thanks for the report a watcher. Let us know if you see her cavorting around town with any other falcons.

Another falcon? Yes, we all wish gigi, but this may not be cavorting weather just yet.

It's :cold:

Although I did see some pigeons frolicking south of downtown. Hmm, I suppose pigeon fans have their own forums, but I don't think I will visit there to sing the praises of peregrines.

My "sighting" today: went to a downtown office and when I came out, there was a Peregrine Heating and Cooling truck parked close to my car. Very nice graphics on the truck. Apparently the company is based in Plymouth Indiana. This will have to do until I see another live falcon.

Hmmm, SGB, I didn't find out, male or female. The truck was in a pretty public area and I didn't want to get too personal.
Yesteday, I was driving along Washington street, minding my own business, when all of a sudden, Whoa, that looks like a raptor flying ! I quickly stopped the car, but when I got out my papers scattered everywhere and I had to pick them up, so I lost that bird watching experience.

BTW I have edited my Monday post to make it longer, a full falcon experience.

Also, I am considering some winter reading, something good, and long, and action-filled. Either War and Peace, or the Rochester Falcon Chronicles.

:sleigh: (Ok, this will wake everyone up .... )

Hey Guys ! :cheer Friday afternoon I come outta the bank and there are TWO falcons on the County City Building ! One perching on the NE corner and one hunkering down on the NW corner. It reminds me of when Guinevere and Zoe were hanging out in those particular spots last summer. Not to say that this is Zoe, I don't know who is the other bird, but pretty surely a falcon. After watching for a few minutes, I drove the few blocks to the library, and as I was going in , I saw a falcon fly off the CC Bldg, and then the pigeons on the Chase Building all flocked, then scattered as the falcon flew into their midst. A falcon hunting, maybe some guy showing his prowess for G.

Here's to a :happynewyear: for Guinevere and Kathy Q too. Let's get these ladies some suitors bringing flowers, or at least dead birds. :flowers

That sounds exciting, sbwatcher! It would be wonderful if Guinevere has a mate for this season! :sum9: (What are you doing up at 2:40?) :girlcrazy:

:snowflake3: sbwatcher presents : the Sighting of the Day ! :snowflake3:

No birds on the CC Building, but I saw a bird -shaped blob in a window of the Tower Building, so I stopped to investigate. Raising my binoculars, I saw another blob in a darkened window nearby. The first blob was moving and turning its head. The second blob looked like a baked alaska that had been melted and refrozen a couple of times. ( Ok, that's not very scientific, I'll leave the ice cream references alone. ) I think this is our two falcons, perched a couple of windows apart on the 13th floor of the Tower Building. Both birds were fluffed out, and I'm guessing that these windows provide a little heat for them.
At least more heat than the 3 degree temperature that it was while I was standing outdoors. :coldwinter:

I saw the birds at 5:45 pm, and when I went back at 8 pm, they were still in the same spots.

Is anybody willing to send me a virtual hot chocolate or some other goodies for standing out there in the :cold: to provide birdie reports ?
