Thanks for the video, rysx.

Yesterday I managed to catch a feeding. . .

Image

Today when I checked in, the nest contained the one chick and the one unhatched egg (I expect the second egg will hatch tomorrow, as it was laid 3 days after the first egg). While I didn't manage to catch a feeding, the sun was just right to catch some of Phoebe's beautiful coloration. . .

I can't believe how fast the hummer cycle is. It seems like just yesterday she was feeding the last clutch. Holy cow!

The good news is that Phoebe's first chick is doing very well and has been named Fleur. The bad news is that it doesn't appear that there will be a second hatch.

Knowing how attentive Pheobe is, I'll bet that Fleur will be one spoiled hummer chick.

Saw on Phoebe's FB page today! :loveshow:

We're adopting!
Phoebe is going to adopt an orphan chick. We are going to introduce them during the noon hour. The chick is about the same age as Fleur. Apparently, someone did some pruning without looking

Thanks, Kris, for posting the great news about the nest's newest addition, an orphaned chick named Pip. Fleur and Pip look quite at home in the nest together. :loveheart2:

What a difference a couple of days make! The kids are huge now, and the fledge watch starts on March 24.

Great pictures, Barb. I just checked the cam and found an empty nest: Pip fledged yesterday as you noted, and Fleur fledged early this morning.

I wonder when Phoebe will start working on her next nest (or maybe she's already started).

This is another hummingbird nest. Formerly Emma's place. But it is used now by an Allen's hummingbird named Tinkerbell. The camera address:

I think they expect the hatch watch start on April 1.

Is this a free site, donations optional?

Thanks, rysx, for the news about Tinkerbell's nest. I took this picture yesterday and couldn't believe the wonderful colors. (When I checked in just now, I saw that the hatch watch starts today. I did see both eggs, but no signs of pips yet.)

Image

Jazzel - To answer your question about whether the site is free, yes it is. They do accept donations, but they're not required.

Catbird, thanks :girlluv: I'll send the cam link and info to a 'senior' Hummer lover. I didn't want her to be disappointed because she would have to pay to watch

Tinkerbell's colors are so beautiful!

The hatch watch is underway, but I still haven't seen any pips in the eggs yet.

:egghatch: :egghatch: Both of Tinkerbell's eggs hatched sometime last night.

Image

And Pheobe, who's been working on a new nest, was trying it out for size this morning.
