If you were a falocn coming home to my area , would you turn around or stay.
from my front and back yard. had to clean deck for dogs. Heck leaves did not get a chance to fall in the fall because we got snow early.

Bev - To answer your question about whether I'd turn around or stay when coming home to your area if I was a falcon, I'd most definitely turn around and head south after seeing all that snow! But I'm glad to hear that Radisson is back and that she didn't let all the snow deter her.

I hope you have a successful falcon nesting season in Edmonton this year.

:gaaaaah: Radisson can count herself lucky. She doesn't have to shovel any of this stuff. (My snowblower worked very well, again, this afternoon. :hapdance: )

Still just radissson but we are enjoying her going after Ravens. I think she is staying in practice , unless she has to defend . she gets a few hits in and I think they are slowly getting picture to stay away. she sure looks good and flies so fast, but so cold.
We are breaking records fro the cold weather. I would rather not see these records LOL
With Hurricane back maybe others are not far behind. I know there was a huge storm yesterday south of us and it came up from USA so probably slowing down returns. Or maybe we are going to get some new ones ???

RAdisson spent a lot of time on west face of CP as it was raining

Great thing is Gord e-mailed us today and he has confirmed RAdisson. the cam operator zoomed in today and got her band. the cam will be up soon and picture quality looks good

April 12 U of A

peter and I went down there later last night . Still under weather but went anyhow. Freezing out there

for quite awhile Radisson was on top corner of CP bu tthen ravens passed through and she flew over to corner of Maz, across from nest box.

it was getting darker and all of sudden she flew north east . I figured she must have seen something.
We kept watching for her and then there she was chupping in nest box.

Well you know what that means. A falcon came flying from east.It looked big but Peter said Radisson bigger. Anyhow it flew over Maz area , did a swoop past box, (shudder, shudder), but she just chupped.

Then it flew out over Clinical science, and out a bit and then over us and over to top of CP by yellow sign. WE could not get decent picutres as it was getting dark. but it did look big , but at same time my gut told me Chase.( we know Chase is a big male)

RAdisson then flew over fast with no noise toward CP. And the other falocn flew off and around south side of CP and RAdisson was behind it. They flew around Windsor apartments and the other falcon flew out north fast.

RAdisson flew out a bit and I lost track. We waited and waited and it got dark. I thought I saw one fly back in by Maz.

WE then checked night roost and there was one there. radisson, I assume

So do not knwo who this was. I think if female, Radisson would have been more vocal. if Chase, she does notseem to want around.

We will have to be vigilant now.
A f few bad shots

Got this in my mail today thought you might like to see it if you haven't already

Published on Apr 13, 2013

n 1970, there was only one breeding pair of peregrine falcons left in Alberta. Today, there around 70. See Ed Struzik's video of the scientists, landowners and business people who have contributed to this remarkable recovery

That is business that holds our fundraiser. WE do have fun at it. Peter was in the picture. he went to banding that day , as I was on fledge watch at U of A. I t was wet that day , so Gord took them to Bin104 to dry off. Peter was taking picutres for me( Miss Edmonton's site

that is our hacking site. Peter and I went there last year to observe. WE will be going to see if any have returned if weather ever smartens up. s you can see they are well monitored.

An d of course you saw Gord

thanks Kf
