Nope. They are both clueless. The baby is going to have to teach them everything.

This is indeed so very exciting to hear that we have one baby - wow and on my niece's birthday too!!

Thank you everyone who has been so good to watch for the hatch, to post pictures and videos. I have been insanely busy at work and have been accused of watching the birds instead of working and I don't have a computer at home. I hope that I can be of help when fledging happens though.

Thanks everyone and congratulations to Durand and Spark!!

OK...reality calls...

I'll, of course, Keep the cam up and will be back later...

Maybe its a good thing we just have 1 right now...at least until Durand figures out how to feed it...

CONGRATS TO EVERYONE ON THE HATCH. THOSE VIDEOS ARE PRICELESS. I'M HOPING SOMEONE SOON GETS A CLUE OR THEY MAY NEED TO STEP IN AND TAKE THE CHICK LIKE THEY DID IN WILMINGTON. HOPE ALL GOES WELL HERE FOR ALL. I DON'T GET HERE MUCH ANYMORE :-(

I am really hoping to see a successful feeding soon. I haven't been able to check the cam all too much today but should't the little one be getting nourishment soon?

sorry..this is so long...I kept waiting for her to pull the baby under...but nope...

Durand still is really focused on covering those eggs and hasn't quite realized that she needs to include the little one too...Thank goodness the baby is mobile!!! LOL

It is my understanding that chicks don't actually need to be fed for the first 24 hours. We had the same worry in Harrisburg. Hoping Durand will figure out what to do by then. Poor dear.

You know though, it was really touching the way she brought in that prey and tried to place in so that the baby could get to it. I nearly cried. She may have been hungry herself but she wanted the baby to have it. Well we've just got to get over this little hurdle and it will be smooth sailing.
