Someone is there right now & they have the cam zoomed in. I'm kinda surprised that there is someone manning the cam on a Sunday!

An email that I got from Evet this morning:

Hi Discussion Forum members --

Tomorrow (12/4) in the morning, sometime after 9:30 AM, Glenn Stewart will make a surprise appearance in the nestbox ledge to replace the 2006 nestbox, and replace it with a new spiffy one that he has built.

The new box will no longer have the "back doors" to either side, that invited the young to sit behind the box perhaps before they were ready. It is 58" wide, has double-wall construction in the roof and back with an inch and a half of insulation, with ventilation holes in the sides. You can tell that Glenn thought about what was needed in the design of the box.

Glenn will also replace all the gravel, so the old box and all that gravel will come out, and Glenn is bringing 300 to 400 pounds of new aquarium gravel. The reason to switch gravel is that certain studies indicate that old gravel that is not periodically "freshened up" (a non-scientist's term) may affect the hatchability of the eggs.

It will be fascinating to see what Clara and Esteban think of their new scrape. A clean scrape may, in fact, help assure that the two continue to use CH as their nesting place.

Both the birds were very visible outside the east side of CH today in the morning. I hadn't seen them in a while, so I take that as a good omen for tomorrow.

If you can't tune in, we will be taking video for eventual uploading to Youtube, for your viewing later.

A close-up that I just got at the nest...

Thanks for catching that, Kittenface! I made a mental note to watch, then fell asleep in my recliner, so I'm glad you caught it! :dancingrands:
