Love the pic...look how big baby is already!!!

I'm not counting out the eggs yet, but I really don't expect any more hatches.

Hi, I actually caught Guinevere standing above the chick, preening a bit, but then she sat back down and started to doze.... The chick is a little over a week old - at what point is he going to say "hey, don't sit on me so much, I want to explore!" Also, can anyone there adjust the cam so it doesn't freeze so often?

Tsusan, I emailed the South Bend webmaster, Brent Cumins and never heard back. I suspect it is a matter of bandwidth and they probably do not have enough to handle all of us. I used the main email from the site, custserv@southbendin.gov but there is probably one for Brent that I don't have handy...

The baby is getting so big! So, what happens to the eggs that don't hatch? It's not looking to promising that we'll have any more hatches :(

Cam tip: If you refresh the page every 10 - 15 minutes, there is much less of a freeze problem. The freeze might be triggered by user inactivity.

Ground report : 10:30 a.m. today. A falcon on the NW corner, facing into the wind, perhaps enjoying the breeze and the mild weather here. ( Then again, maybe all weather in Indiana is mild to a peregrine. ) I was sort of underneath the bird at a diagonal, an interesting angle to see the preens and stretches.

SGB , your pics with the shadow are amazing ! Have you thought about entering them into a nature photo contest?

:dancingegg: Yay cam is back..... Just a bit ago, Guinevere was tenderly feeding the little one - he had quite the crop when she was done. Mom left, and baby was waiting quietly for her to return. Cam froze, and when it came back on, no baby in sight - then I saw some adult feathers on the side of the nest box up close to the cam. I assume mom came back and is nestling with the baby.
So does that mean Guinevere and Zeus know the other eggs are not going to hatch, since no attention at all was paid to the eggs, and mom and baby cuddled away from the eggs?

When I went to the cam just now, first its black, then turns white, with a tag that says "display webpage here", but no picture, except for the digital clock ?

Ground report: This week I have been seeing falcons downtown in the middle of the day, which has not been usual this nesting season. I am theorizing that they may be staying around the nest more because of all the storms that have been coming through.

TODAY Around 11:45, saw a falcon perched on the building, looking like an extension of the concrete. Parked and got my binocs quickly, only to find that they were not working. Gave them a quick and vigorous shake, and then trailed them upward. I caught sight of the bird in a strikingly unusual pose, looking like the falcon version of a Pilobolus dancer. ( Go to google images and look for Pilobolus, not the fungus. You'll see something novel and interesting.) The bird stretched and began foot cleaning, and thanks to the binocs and the relative shortness of the COunty-City Building I was able to see the individual talons. I couldn't stay long as I had to get to work, but it looks like this bird weathered last night's storms just fine.

Just checking in - mom ( I think - it looks big anyway) is up on the ledge while baby sleeps. This chick hardly ever is left by itself, is it - parents are very consciencious !

Here's a link to an article about the hatch. Article ran last Tuesday in San Francisco. :ugeek: :geek: (San Francisco hipster and geek reading about our baby. )

http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Came ... 534786.php

And here's an article released just 20 min ago from the South Bend Tribune.

http://www.southbendtribune.com/news/sb ... 1706.story

I am kind of bummed out about the hatch situation, but at least there is a chick.
Maybe I will start calling the baby Clementine.
