Kim - I'm so glad you posted that video of Blue and White together on the Wilmington Trust Building! And you managed to capture that priceless moment when Red Girl came in with breakfast and Blue quickly grabbed it for herself. She really did deserve it, as she was the only one of the kids that hadn't yet received her breakfast.

Plus, it was wonderful to hear about White's visit to Orange in the nest box. Orange must have been thrilled to see him, and White must be a very good flyer now to have made it back to the nest. That White is such a sweetie: Visiting his sister Blue this morning on the WT roof, then later visiting Orange in the nest. Both girls had been alone for a long time, so his visit must have made their day.

The other good news is that I just saw Orange in the nest box, which means she hasn't fledged yet. Being the last chick to hatch, she's a couple of days behind her brothers and sister. So the longer she stays in the nest, the better.

Two in box and one under ledge so Orange has some buddies for the night! Blue is on a ledge not too far from the box! :)

So I guess that was White I saw in the box this afternoon. Loved the video of Red Girl bringing in that prey and Blue snatching it.

Oh! No! She went!!! Well good for her. She wanted some of that freedom her siblings have. Did Kim see her come down? At least she can get some air now with the heat that we will have.

Kim, Take care today! Must get going to work, but will check back later.

I dropped in on Kim and Ethel on the garage roof 20 minutes ago. Orange was looking over the edge of the Brandywine Building roof and White was flying by occasionally, looking like a pro. Ethel and Kim saw the other two kids this morning too.

Orange's first flight conveniently ended on the garage roof, so Kim didn't have to walk far to catch her. She wanted to fight before getting picked up, however.

Greg - Thanks for reporting the highlights of this morning.

I left Kim around 10:45, and Orange was still on the Brandywine Building roof out in the hot sun (her sister and brothers found some nice shade on various buildings, including the Nemours Building). Between the heat (around 85 degrees now) and the hot sun, I was lucky to last for about 2 1/2 hours on the garage roof this morning.

Fortunately, Kim will have a nice break this afternoon when another fledge watcher arrives at 12:00.

We learned of Orange's fledging this morning while on our fledge watch in Harrisburg this morning. I am glad Kim didn't have to go running around after her, and not surprised that Orange was none too happy about being rescued. Hope she finds a shady place on the roof down there if there is one. Again, many hugs to all you watchers in Wilmington.

Great news this morning and appreciate the postings. Too bad I have a job that keeps me out of the loop. I hope Orange Girl gets off that roof to a better , safe place. The Wilmington Trust Bldg. for instance. They really pull at your heart strings.

Thank goodness Orange didn't try "car surfing" as a fledgling in Pennsylvania did this morning. Today, Kate St. John posted a cute story on her blog about a fledgling that landed on a pickup truck and went for a ride. (It does have a happy ending!)

P.S. Thanks to kittenface for finding this story!

Orange rocks!!!!! Other than her mishap this morning, I think she is the most skilled fledgling I have ever watched and I've watched quite a few!!! After her trip to the roof at 6 AM, she was on the ledge of the roof until a little after 12:00 when she probably couldn't take the heat anymore. She flew towards WT but I was on the ground and the trees blocked my view so I couldn't see for sure whether she landed there or not. Right after she flew, Red Girl flew over checking on her and since she didn't seem concerned, I wasn't either. :)

Anyway, after 15 mins or so, she flew to the Sheraton with no problem staying high enough or with landing! She didn't wait long before she flew again only this time she landed on a hand railing on a balcony on the 16th floor of the Nemours Building. That takes skill!!! She was screaming away for food and saw that dad had just flown in with food on the WT Building. She didn't waste any time flying over there and landed right next to him!!!!! Amazing!!! Especially considering she had only been flying for a little over an hour!

I hadn't seen her for several hours when I finally couldn't take the heat anymore and left at 4:00. I will feel better when I hear from our night team that all four kids are accounted for but after watching her briefly today, I feel pretty confident that all is okay.

Go Orange!!! :)
